Remi nodded, he definitely understood moving countries, but his entire family had moved, not just him. "That's kinda cool though, living in a temple. Must've really been an experience." He mused. He wasn't really into any religion, not after how his grandfather acted toward his grandmother and him, but temples always seemed really relaxing, and a part of him wanted to visit one for a night just to see the inner workings. But he only remembered the one visit his family made to Korea through photographs rather than memories, considering he was barely three when they went, and temples were rather scarce in England and Southern California, or at least the kind you'd find in Asia.
He was snapped out of his thoughts at the sudden apology, confused for a moment before realizing the context. "It is, I guess." He said, not really putting it into that kind of perspective. His life was pretty good lately, and he supposed surrounding himself with a small group of people wasn't a horrible idea after all, as even with the medication changes and mood swings, he'd been pretty at ease lately.
He bit back a laugh at Minglong's reaction, holding up a hand in defense. "Woah mate, alright, alright. Calm down." He finally let out a sharp laugh, unable to hold it back any longer. "I was just messing with you, bloody hell." He said through his laughter. "That reaction was bloody priceless!"

Minglong took a few deep breaths, resisting the urge to cover his face in embarrassment until he centered himself again. He let out a sigh and told Remi, voice calm and steady now, "I see. It is a topic and an assumption that I am not very fond of."
He thought back to the topic before he had been sidetracked by embarrassment ad said, "Living in a temple was very calm. There were always people around. People come by at the strangest times to meditate or pray and such. But they were never loud. I learned martial arts there, and my first several instruments, classical and traditional Chinese instruments. I did not start violin or oboe until later. I do not know how it would really compare to other experiences at that age, but it had a nice rhythm to it."
He added, almost as an after thought, "The temple near campus is much louder in general, though it is still a nice atmosphere."

"Okay, okay, sorry." Remi said, still staving off laughter. "So you're like ace or something then?" He questioned curiously, but then stopped himself. "No what's it... Graysexual?" He tried. When getting a word for himself, he ended up learning about all the different types of sexuality, but still wasn't familiar with the less common terms, minus pansexuality since he figured that fit best for him.
He thought about that kind of life, he liked personal space so it would probably actually bother him more than a mentally healthy person. "Martial arts, huh? and traditional instruments? No like... television or anything?" He questioned. "Books?" He added as an afterthought. His mother tried to keep him active as a child, so even being home-schooled, he was still only allowed a couple hours of television max. "I mean it sounds cool, but I'd probably go crazy... well, crazier." He joked lightly. Just the thought of spending all day in a temple learning martial arts and instruments for longer than maybe a week made him feel like he was going stir-crazy.

Minglong thought back to the English words for things that he had learned, stumbling over a few of the words in English as he replied, "I am asexual, or ace, though sometimes the part of that I'm in gets called 'grey ace.' But I am also homoromantic, so I do sometimes just say that I am gay because it is simpler. Since you know some of the words, what about you?"
Minglong thought about the other question for a bit and replied, "I had a lot of books that I liked to read even from when I was quite young, so those were definitely something that I did when I was still living at the temple, but while I watched television sometimes when I was staying with my mother then, I did not really understand why it was appealing until after I got glasses when I was eight. It turns out that it was a more interesting medium when I could actually see what was going on."

Remi nodded simply, patting his chest as he thought about it, "Me? I say I'm pansexual." He said, glancing to Minglong. He put his hand back into his pocket, "I looked up the different sexualities a while back because I was curious. Up until then, I had found both men and women attractive but..." He shrugged, feeling like he was rambling himself, "I kinda had this feeling I wasn't just bi, for some reason. I don't know." He frowned, "Sexuality's confusing when you can find people attractive and can like physical contact but typically don't like anyone. I don't relate well, that's a important part of liking people."
He smiled slightly, "So you wear glasses hmm?" He mused simply. "Do you have contacts now?"

Minglong nodded at Remi's explanation and said thoughtfully, though stumbling a bit over the embarrassing parts, "That is sort of the difference between sexual and romantic attraction though. Sexual attraction is, well, what you are talking about. It means that you want to, um, do the things with someone. But romantic attraction, maybe you do not have it, or do not have it as much. Normally, romantic and sexual attraction line up for most people, but there are people who are attracted to a different set of people than they are interested in romantically. That is what I mean when I say asexual, but also homoromantic. I am gay, but only for relationships, and cuddling and stuff, not for... other things. When someone is not interested in the romance things, the word that gets used is aromantic."
He nodded to Remi's question and said, "I wear both still, but often contacts are easier. They don't get knocked off my face ever, and I have a lot of practice putting them in. It was easier for Wushu competitions not to have to worry about losing my glasses, but also still having correct vision. I also have a bad habit of somehow managing to attack my glasses with my instruments."

Remi raised an eyebrow, "That's... definitely a learning experience. I guess I'll have to look into it more." He said. Admittedly, he still didn't know much about sexuality, but he was willing to learn more. "I guess I'm kinda aromantic, then, huh?" He mused, shrugging.
He chuckled slightly. "That makes sense." He said, but then looked to him curiously. "What's Wushu?" He asked. He felt like he'd heard of it, but he was only really familiar with things like kung fu movies or of course, boxing.

Minglong shrugged and replied, "Maybe, yes. You should do your own research and thinking on it. The explaining, I am not doing it so well. But it sounds like a possibility with what you said."
Minglong was a bit taken aback when Remi asked him what wushu was, but then he remembered that it didn't often get called that here. He said, "Wushu, it is usually called Gongfu in the US, but that is a little bit strange to me, because it is a type of gongfu, but gongfu is the art of something. Wushu is an art, but not the only one. Like gong-fu-cha (功夫茶 - Gōngfūchá) is the art of tea, the proper way of going about it. Wushu is traditional Chinese martial arts."

Remi shook his head, "no, no, you're explaining fine. I just did a quick glance a few times and pointed at a word that best fit me, clearly I need to look more into it." He said simply.
He tilted his head, he never knew that. "That's actually super interesting." He said, and for once he actually meant it. "So then gongfu is the art of something and you just add on words from there? Chinese is so interesting..." He mused, seeming truly amazed. He returned to walking backwards. "Tell me more." He asked.

The look of animation on Remi's face when he expressed interest in Chinese constructions was a bit of a surprise to Minglong, and he smiled at Remi warmly for it. He said, "I'm not sure what else exactly to tell you about Chinese. I mean, I am the TA for the Chinese classes here, and if you ever decided you were interested in learning Chinese, I have practice helping people. And yes, you are right, you add different words to after to change the meaning of what it is about."
Minglong thought for a second and then asked, "What sorts of things do you want to know about Chinese?"

Remi shrugged. "I don't know It just seems like a really interesting language. I've never learned a language where it just adds on like that. It seems simple." He knew Chinese itself wasn't simple, but he already knew how to read Korean and the basics of the grammar structure, so he wasn't totally unfamiliar with Asian grammar formatting. He thought a moment. "Are there courses next semester? Maybe I'll try it."

Minglong thought about it and replied, "I am not too familiar with many other languages. I took English in school and really focused on that. I thought about taking Korean for a while, when I had a chance to, but I chose to take an extra science class instead. The word adding, it is important what order it is, because even if the basic meaning, it is still about the same, the idea of the meaning, I think the English word is implication, it is different. So even if someone might understand what it is you mean, they might find it rude or silly if the order is wrong. Especially since the words, they do not change form the way that English does."
He nodded to Remi's question and replied, "There are starting Chinese classes all the semesters, though three and four have fixed semesters. You can take the second class over the summer if you take the first one second semester though. Or have a weird gap."
He added teasingly, "If you take one of the Chinese classes, you will have to put up with me as TA though. Where I am paid to be friendly to you."

"Huh, that makes sense." Remi mused, trying to understand the other man without much context into Chinese. "I think I'd have to see it to really understand, but I think I get what you're saying." He said, not sounding very sure of his words. He thought about how his schedule would look, furrowing his eyebrows. "I only have this semester and next semester, I'm not even sure if I'm going to continue and go to college." He told Minglong honestly. Though since it had been brought up, he'd been looking more into music colleges.
He breathed out a laugh, a half-smile forming on his face. "I can tolerate TAs, especially when they're as pretty as your boyfriend." He said, a part of him just hoping he'd get a rise out of Minglong again.

Minglong was a little bit startled by that admission, but he asked tentatively, "Are you planning on something else other than college after that? Or do you not know yet? How old are you anyhow?"
He chuckled when Remi mentioned Yongji being pretty and replied teasingly, "He's really pretty, isn't he? I'm not sure if you are trying to say that I'm pretty too or not though."

"I don't really know that I want to go to college." Remi mused, before blinking a couple times. "Oh right... I'm here on the high school program. I'm only 17 for another couple of months." He stated. He sighed, "I mean I know college is what a person's supposed to do, but schooling really isn't for me. I've been home schooled most of my life, I'm not really anxious to have someone else teach me stuff." He admitted honestly.
He smiled, though mentally he was frowning a bit. He had been hoping to get a rise out of the other man, but instead did the opposite, it seemed. "Well I mean, you're definitely not hard to look at." He looked Minglong up and down, then smirked, "Dishy, for sure." He said lightly.
