Appearance
Face Claim: Wen Junhui (of Seventeen)
Minglong is rather gangly and quite tall (about 183 cm or 6'). He has cheekbones and a jawline that could kill a man, and a mouth that is often either pouting or smiling cutely. His eyes are a very dark shade of brown, and he alternates between wearing contacts and glasses, though contacts are more common. His hair is naturally black, but he has dyed it a range of shades of brown and red over the past few years. He has his right ear pierced, but he doesn't always wear an earring. He most often wears nice button downs and sweaters and vests and jackets, and in general just sort of looks fancy and fashionable. He loves bright colors in general.
Personality
Minglong has a lot of love and caring and kindness to go around to the people he cares about. While it can take a while for him to click with someone, he gets really really attached to his friends, and generally is a very caring and cuddly person towards them.
Minglong wants to know everything about everything. His curiosity is just as intense towards school as it is towards music as it is towards people. Minglong also has extremely good focus when it comes to his goals. He knows where he is aiming, and he is very happy to be doing what he is doing, but nothing is going to make him give up on his goals, or the people who are important to him.
Minglong has a really hard time stopping trusting people even when he should if he has already given them his trust. It's good that he has a really supportive and caring group of friends and a husband who keep an eye on his needs and moods. For all that he seems effusive and bubbly, he can also be prone to periods where he is really sad and introspective. He adores cuddling, and is a very touchy person with his friends in general.

History
Minglong was born in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China, where both of his parents worked as teachers. (His mother was a kindergarten teacher, and his father was an elementary school teacher). When Minglong was four years old, his father fell suddenly ill and passed away over the course of about a month. His mother was heartbroken, and while she got herself back together, he was sent to live with his grandfather who had become a Buddhist monk several years earlier. Most of Minglong's earliest memories are of learning Wushu from his grandfather, along with several traditional Chinese instruments, and attending morning services in the temple where his grandfather was a monk. When he about eight, he and his mother moved to a small apartment in Taizhou, Zhejiang, China, where she had a new job. It was close enough that he still visited his grandfather's temple most weekends, but far enough away to give him a bit of a new start at making friends now that his mother was starting to settle again.
Minglong was a bit of a prodigy at his studies, working well above grade level in all of his subjects and utterly fascinated to learn just about everything he could. He was well liked in school, for being generally friendly, an accomplished athlete, and an accomplished musician, going to national and even international competitions for martial arts, violin, and oboe, as well as getting the highest honors in his class academically. When he was seventeen, Minglong decided that he was interested in studying abroad, despite his family not being terribly well off, and he looked into programs that would allow him to go to American universities. He ended up deciding that attending a community college in the US and then transferring in would be the easiest course, especially since it would allow him time to perfect his English. He moved to the US just after his 18th birthday, and a bit over a year later, on a scholarship that would pay for him to do two years at Cedar Beach Community College followed by two years at UW to major in anything that he wanted as long as he included something music related.
During his first year at Cedar Beach Community College, he was assigned to a suite in the dorms with three other young men who shared interests in common with him, and the roommate matching worked possibly more well than intended, as the four of them rather quickly settled into a comfortable, tangled, multi-person romantic commitment to each other. After the first semester, when they no longer needed to live in the dorms, they decided that they would rent a rather small two bedroom apartment on Ashgrove Way together, and they did so for well over a year. Denis moved away not long after his parents passed away, and he sort of fell out of their lives with not much communication about what had happened, though they did eventually send him his things. MingLong and BaiAn got married during the spring of their first year both at UW, partially because that was sort of where they were in their relationship, and partially to help cement MingLong's case to stay in the US.
MingLong majored in Linguistics and Music with focuses on various Asian languages and musics, and during his Senior Year at UW, a composition that he won a competition with took him to Carnegie Hall to perform. He got some attention from that, and he has been able to actually earn some money off his compositions since he graduated, but he's also been doing a slew of other jobs, continuing his martial arts teaching at the Temple in town, and adding some classes with the Chinese School that runs out of the temple. He also gives private and small group music lessons, and works as a session musician from time to time.
