"Huh, in shows, the bartender always seems to take drinks with their patrons. It makes more sense that they shouldn't drink, honestly." Remi said, shrugging. He finished up his food and sat back in his seat. He gave Gohyuk a grin, "you better. A fancy mocktail sounds good."
He thought a moment about getting hit on, and the significance the bar held for Gohyuk, and how he viewed the bar. "I mean, yeah. That sounds par for the course. If they're cute I may even flirt back." He said honestly. "Other hook ups aren't a terrible thing, either." He added, though felt a little weird stating it to one of his main hook up partners.

Gohyuk frowned at Remi's explanation and said, "Thst would be illegal to drink behind the bar, but more importantly, irresponsible. Part of my job when tending bar is to be able to be in control of the situation and be able to recognize when I need to cut someone off. Also, it would screw up my coordination and make me worse at making drinks."
Gohyuk nodded and said, "I don't find hook ups at the bar anymore because I'm the manager, too much potential for emotional mess that would spill over onto the bar and other patrons. I can speak from personal experience that it's a pretty good setting to find them though. It's where I found my first one ever."
He made a face and added, "Just like, don't make a mess, literally or emotionally. There's some cool and chill people who are regulars. Like, I know you're good at being clear about the no strings."

Remi snorted, "Of course I wouldn't make a mess. I'm not about to pay for cleaning just to flirt with someone. And I'd like to be able to return to the bar without it being awkward to run into someone." He thought a moment about the other thing Gohyuk said. It made sense things that were illegal in real life may not be illegal on tv. But also, a lot of his social experiences, especially before moving to Korea, were through television. "I guess it makes sense tending a bar wouldn't be as fun as it is on tv, though."
He looked over in the direction of the dog, presumably still in its corner doing whatever well-trained dogs when they told to be in their spot. "So why'd you choose that dog?" He asked, mostly just curious.

Gohyuk laughed at Remi's assessment, and said, "I mean, I enjoy being behind the bar. I like the puzzle of figuring out drinks that people would like, and making our menu to appeal to regulars. I also like the socialization of it, I hear all sorts of stories about people, and sometimes I get to sort of nudge people towards each other if I think that they'd be good fits. I am also never behind on local queer gossip."
Gohyuk was momentarily surprised by the change in subject, but he didn't mind talking about his dog. He said, "I went to a dog rescue when I first started living alone. It was nice having my tiny space to myself, but after living with friends for a few years, it was also lonely. I'd never had pets as a kid, and I'd wanted to."
He thought back on getting Daeyu and said, "He was about six months old the first time I went in, and he'd been given up to the rescue for being too big and for being reactive and scary. They'd already started working on training him, butnit was pretty obvious that all the problems he'd had in his first home were just him being afraid and reacting, and owners not knowing how to deal with or train a big dog. I kind of fell in love with him a little bit especially because the first time I visited him properly, he fell asleep on my lap. I was sitting on the floor with him, and he was already like half the wait he is now, so he wasn't really a lap dog, but he was soft and cuddly. I don't take him home for like two months because the rescue wanted to work really closely with me on training him and making sure I was a good fit. It was a lot of work, but he's worth it."

"That makes sense, I guess." Remi mused. "All that training sounds rough. Was it because he was actually aggressive or just because he was a big dog?" He wondered aloud.

Gohyuk shook his head and said, "He wasn't exactly aggressive. He was reactive, it's a little different. Like he'd back away and growl and show his teeth, but it was because he was scared of something, or didn't know what to do with what was going on around him. His first owners would restrain him or close him up, they weren't like hitting him we don't think, but it was making it worse. He can be pretty territorial, and he's protective of his people, but we did a lot of work with him to make sure he felt secure. He'd not be great with someone coming in unannounced or unintroduced that he didn't know well. It's part of why I wanted to have you over to introduce to him."
He glanced towards the corner where Daeyu was napping, making the occasional quiet dog sound, and said, "I did a lot of work for him to trust me and trust my judgement, so me being calm does a lot to keep him calm. I'm careful with him in crowded places though, and he's got really good recall in terms coming directly to me if I call him and waiting for me to tell him what to do in an unfamiliar situation. Even if he's not trying to hurt someone, he's a lot of dog to be having big reactions to things around him, and the training is really important in terms of there not being escalated situations. He and I have a lot of routines that keep him happy and feeling safe. But the being able to pick him up is one of those training things. I've only had to do it in public once or twice, and not in a few years now."

"Ah, I guess that makes sense..." Remi said. He realized he and the dog were kind of similar in that way, where someone came to them that soothed them, and helped them become calmer and less reactive to negativity in the world. He wouldn't admit that to Gohyuk, or even Anya for that matter, who was 'that person' for him, but it did give Remi an unfamiliar sensation of a bond with the dog.
He looked over at Gohyuk, and his eyes drifted to the table between them. "Oh, your food was really good, by the way. Did you want me to help you clean up?" He didn't actually want to help, but his mom always lectured him about it being common courtesy to at least offer.
[[OOC: I said it in chat, but I'm running out of ideas for this thread. I dunno if I'm forgetting anything though.]]

Gohyuk said, "I didn't make too much of a mess, and I mostly cleaned up as I went, but I'll wash dishes and you can dry them off, and then I'll show you where everything goes so that you can find things when you're over here in the future."
He was relieved that Remi coming over for the first time seemed to have gone so well. He hoped that he'd have Remi over in his space plenty. He didn't mind visiting at Remi's apartment. He liked Thomas and Misuk well enough, though he was definitely closer to Thomas of the two of them, but they had more privacy at his place, and that was a major benefit. It wasn't any further from the university either, but the two apartments and the university made a sort of triangle.
