((Note: This thread is backdated to around the beginning of June.)) Felix had a quiet day ahead of him since he had managed to do his required training in the morning, and so now he was relaxing at the cafe while working on his school work. It was getting easier to do it on his own, but he still had the occasional issues. Especially when it came to English class. He set down his drink, a cold and tasty looking juice with frozen watermelon chunks. It was something new they had just introduced, presumably as a summer drink. The cafe was pretty quiet today, though a few staff members were having their lunch break or what-have-you in various corners of the cafe. Felix had settled at a table by the window, people watching for a bit before remembering he had come here for a change of scenery to study. He pulled his laptop out of his bag and opened it, immediately swearing in Spanish as his laptop loaded directly onto the English essay he had to write. It should have been the simplest thing, he knew. It only had to be 500 words, and it was to talk about your family. It should have been easy! It was something he could do in Korean with his eyes closed at this point. He looked at the rubric again: family relations, their job or what they do, and something related to them (a hobby, or a favorite memory). He had notes already, which he took in class with heavy support from the teacher, such as the familial terms in English and his parent's and sibling's jobs, but he couldn't think of specific hobbies for them while he was in class, and also still had to turn those bullet points into 500 words. It felt like he was given instructions to run a 15k after only running a mile for class. He ran a hand through his hair, resting his head in his hands, "Me estoy volviendo loco..." He whined. Elena had finally managed to find the cafe. It shouldn't have been so hard, but having the tendency to stop and look at everything and talk to everyone usually slowed her down. She entered and saw the the cafe didn't have too many people in it.
She made her way up to the barista and ordered a black coffee. Despite her personality, she actually hated sweet things, so her coffee was always black with no sugar or cream. She thanked the barista and went to find a seat.
She noticed the boy by the window seeming frustrated at his computer. She tried to place his face but just couldn't, then she heard it. Spanish.
"Por tu culpa, más que un loco," she sang, finishing the lyrics to Argentinian singer, Leonardo Favio's song "Me estoy volviendo loco" from across the cafe, not even noticing that she'd just sang, like a Disney Princess calling on her animal friends, to a man she didn't know but already considered family.
"Hermano!" she squealed and threw herself at him, hugging him and giving him dos besos.

Felix was surprised by the sudden singing, then the screech, and finally even more surprised when he realized it had all been Spanish. His surprise didn't wane, though he returned the dos besos subconsciously. "You must be Elena..." He said to her in Spanish. He patted her arm lightly and gave her a smile as he looked her up and down. She was pretty, and seemed just as hyper as Hayun had told him. He motioned to the empty chair across from where he was sitting. "Please, have a seat." He said, still speaking Spanish. "It's nice to finally meet you... hermana." He finished the sentence hesitantly. Though she was already calling him "hermano," it felt strange to use the term on someone he'd just met.

Elena scrambled off Felix's lap and into the seat across from him, practically vibrating with excitement. "It's so nice to speak Spanish. I've been speaking Korean since I got here and I'm so bad at it that I feel like I'm always stumbling over words. Back home I never have to really speak it. I mean my dad taught me Korean and made sure I was fluent but-" she shook her head in disapproval, "I'm not very good."
"How long have you been here? Do you like it here? What's your favorite Korean food? Can you cook? I love to cook but Spanish and Argentine foods are pretty different. I'm comfortable in my people's dishes like paella or gazpacho, but I have some cousins who spent time in Argentina so I'm pretty good at making empanadas and provoleta. I also love making dulce de leche, though I don't eat it. We have to cook together sometime hermano!" She reached across the table and squeezed his hand, happy to be speaking in rapid fire Spanish.

Felix was still shaking off the surprise, but it only seemed to be growing with how much Elena talked. He understood the warnings now. Still, he was just as excited to get to hear and speak Spanish as Elena seemed to be. "Me too! My dad is a Second-Generation Korean and so even he didn't know Korean. My dad's parents died before I was born so I never got to learn any from them. I also miss speaking Spanish, so we should chat often!" He replied, pausing to take a sip of his drink.
"I got here uh... about a year ago now. I did go home for almost a month between the training camp and moving, but otherwise I've been here since. I do like it here, though it's quite an adjustment culturally, and uh... food-wise." He laughed a little, "My favorite Korean food is probably budae jjigae. Very good. And spicy. I don't cook well but I can like... survive." He laughed again, though this time it was more shy. He perked up at the mention of empanadas and provoleta. "Yes! Please! I miss my home dishes!!" He said excitedly. "Cooking together could be a lot of fun."

"Of course we'll chat often, you're mi hermano!" Elena said, grabbing and shaking his hands excitedly before putting them back down. "Oh wow, so you've just started learning Korean? How's it been? Do you speak any other languages?"
"Budae jjigae? I don't know that dish, now I want to try it! Oh! Do you dance?" her mind was going in a million different directions. "We should dance sometime! I love flamenco, bachata, tango, salsa, merengue, pretty much any latin inspired dance. So if you know how, or even if you don't, I can teach you." Elena giggled, "I just thought about teaching Seojin-unnie bachata. She'd die!"
"But yes, back to cooking," she jumped back onto a new old train of thought, "we should cook together, I can teach you to make things!"

"Of course, of course," Felix replied with a short chuckle. He nodded, "Yeah, it's been hard, but I think I'm doing okay with it. I don't speak any other languages. I've been learning English since like elementary school but hardly anything has stuck. I know a little bit of Brazilian Portuguese but otherwise no." He rambled.
"There's a restaurant nearby that sells it! We have to go sometime!" He said excitedly. "I got in for my dancing!" He said, equally as excited. "I like and know some Latin dances, but honestly my specialty is in b-boy." He paused, tilting his head to one side. To his knowledge and experience, Seojin was one of the best dancers among the trainees. "Why would she die...?" He asked hesitantly.
"I'd love to learn to cook new things!"He said, also returning to his original excitement.

"I speak English if you ever need help. Barcelona is pretty touristy so I had to learn." Elena stood up and did a few salsa steps, "We definitely have to dance together then!"
"B-boy? That's the style Seojin-unnie does, right? I mean of course she'd die," Elena grabbed Felix by the shirt and pulled him into a standing position. She danced a few bachata steps in front of him, but because of the nature of bachata it was more like on him. "I think anyone who isn't Spanish or Latino and used to that much skin contact would die."
Elena laughed and let Felix go, spinning herself around a few times with some hip sways before spinning back into her seat. She didn't even pay attention to the entire cafe staff who looked absolutely scandalized by her dancing, especially on (she would say with) Felix.

"Cool, another person to help." Felix said, sounding more exasperated than enthusiastic. His reaction was a bit deceiving, he was thrilled to find someone that could explain English in his native language, but frustrated it apparently came easy, or was a native language, to so many other of the trainees. At least Seoji would never let him down.
He let out a startled cry as he was hoisted out of his seat and danced with suddenly, tensing as he noticed other people in the cafe staring at them. "You can't just! Do that with people here!" He squeaked, his voice cracking. He sat back down, ruffling his hair. "Bachata is a great style of dance, but culturally, it would be considered promiscuous here in Korea. Scandalous." He let out a sigh, "but I suppose you're right. A Korean, even one like Seojin-noona who has studied in America, would die from that kind of dance."

"You seem unhappy that I can help in English, que pasando hermano?" Elena asked, wondering what had happened to make him react like that.
She blinked and was shocked by Felix's reaction. "Can't do what? Dance?" She looked around and noticed the barista's huddled together whispering while staring at her. She smiled broadly and waved to them. "I guess this is one of those cultural things that Seojin-unnie warned me about." She huffed and crossed her arms.
"Wait, when are you set to debut? Do you have a group yet? We could totally do a latin dance and post it. You'd get so many followers!" Elena was excited by her plan, already forgetting that apparently she shouldn't be doing those kinds of dances.

"It's not that I'm unhappy... more like.. jealous. English is so hard to me, but so many of the other trainees are either really good, fluent, or native speakers." Felix told her honestly. He smiled, "Don't misunderstand, I'm very happy to have someone that can help me that is a native Spanish speaker. Taijia knows some Spanish, but he's not fluent by any means, so he can't always help."
He sighed and shook his head, "I mean, dancing at random is kind of weird but like, things like bachata is considered too sexy to just... randomly do it. Yes it is probably a cultural thing, though I've never known any of my friends back home to randomly start dancing bachata, either." He said, half-joking at the latter half of his words.
"Uh... not for another few years." He said, then nodded, "Since this is such a small company, the trainees from the training camp and who ever's been added after the training camps are it. That's probably why you were pushed into the girl group despite how soon their debut is coming up. There's about four male trainees total in the entire company. We're dorming together, and it's expected we'll debut together. But Taijia's only 11 international age, and they want to wait until he's at least 14, I think."
He hesitated before saying shakily, "I think that could be fun, but would probably need to be approved by at least a manager, if not the CEO, before we posted it. And it probably couldn't be bachata." He neglected to mention the training camp already got him an influx of social media followers, which at the time made him panic and look over his Instagram to make sure there were no scandalous pictures or comments (like ones with his ex) before setting his profile settings to public, and then upping the privacy settings on his other social media accounts. In time, Elena would probably deal with the same rise in popularity.

"Taijia.... I don't know a Taijia. I mean, I'm terrible with names, but I don't think I've heard that one yet," Elena said. She giggled a little, "why do you think I keep calling you hermano? I recognize your name when I hear it, but I honestly can't remember it," she admitted.
"If you didn't randomly dance bachata with your friends and family back home, then you're missing out," she teased.
She really wasn't sure how this idol business worked and who debuted when and for what reason. She'd been told she was auditioning for a spot in JBN, so she didn't think she'd been lumped in with them because she was a girl, but she didn't know.
"When did you know you wanted to be an idol and why did you want to become one?" she asked.

Felix chuckled, "You're still new here, too. Give it time. You'll learn everyone's name as you get to know them. And my name's Felix. But hermano is fine." He said, giving her a nonchalant wave of his hand. He positioned his hand at about his head and said, "Taijia's the youngest one in the company right now. He's tiny, but extremely smart and talented. He's also probably the most familiar with the Yuseong-sunbaenims because Kangwan-sshi was his babysitter while they lived in the U.S." He explained.
He raised an eyebrow at her, a smirk on his face as he seemed to be trying to figure out how to respond to the dancing comment. "I think... I'm good on missing out on that." He said hesitantly.
He tilted his head to one side at the last questions, looking off into the distance as he seemed to try to figure out the answer to her questions. "I mean... I was a child model, and quit that when I wanted to pursue dancing. Becoming an idol was kind of always my end goal, I guess, just because our family is already in the entertainment industry's focus. I don't know how many South American tellanovellas you watch, but my brother has been in a fair amount. He's no like... household name or anything, but he has a strong career at least in Argentina." He explained, stopping as he realized he was rambling. "Anyway, I'm not a strong singer, but didn't want to just be a backup dancer, and some of my friends were getting into KPop, and so my mind naturally gravitated to that being the solution. Every group had a main dancer, so there was a spot for me." He shrugged, "I'm still not a strong singer, but they say I'm doing pretty good at rapping, so that's where I am now."

"Kangwan is a Yuseong member then?" Elena asked, trying to piece things together. She shook her head, "let's just give up on me and names for now, okay?"
She glossed over Felix's reply to dancing bachata with family and friends and latched onto his answer to her question. "So you've kind of always known that you wanted to be in the spotlight..." she took a sip of her coffee, "sorry, I don't really watch telenovela so I don't think I'd recognize him. Is it weird that I'm a little shy at the idea of being an idol?"
Though her personality certainly didn't show it, she was nervous about becoming an idol. She knew standards and customs were so different here, and she obviously was already messing up plenty judging by the whispers of the cafe staff members still around.
"What if they don't like me? Or think I'm trying too hard? Or not hard enough?" she was surprised at her own insecurities. She was usually much better at managing and facing them. She blamed the fact that they were speaking Spanish so she felt more open and honest.

Felix chuckled and nodded, "Yes, he is. But deal. No more names." He agreed. "Or at least I'll try."
He nodded, "Not necessarily that I always knew, but rather I always liked it. It was normal to me, and never really felt like a burden, which probably means I'm remember some instances wrong, but it is still something I liked doing. And besides, by being an idol, I can help to influence the next generation to be driven and passionate about their dreams." He waved a hand, looking away and letting out an embarrassed laugh. "I'm rambling nonsense now, don't mind me."
He regained composure and shook his head, giving Elena a caring look, "It's not weird at all. Even I have those insecurities sometimes. Like... What if they never think I'm good at anything but dancing? That sort of thing. Being nervous is a perfectly human response to your predicament. You were brought in suddenly, and now you're going to debut soon. I'd almost be more concerned if you felt ready and not nervous."
