Seojin had been pulled in for a meeting with the trainee manager and the CEO earlier in the day, which had been a little bit intimidating, but also a reminder of just how small the company was. She'd counted it up, and other than the artists and trainees, there were the CEO, the company vice-president who was also a producer, the dance trainer and vocal trainer who were both part time, Yuseong's manager, the trainee manager, someone who did hair and makeup and other various staff tasks, and Thomas--a total of only nine people who were staff or management of the company.
During the meeting, they'd gone over the general debut plan with her, since she was the expected group leader, and explained the ramp up process. They were slated to aim to debut right after Seojin graduated high school in February or maybe March, and between now and then, they needed to maintain the attention that they'd gotten during the training camp, which meant social media presence, especially showcasing their skills.
The manager and CEO had tasked her with starting the process of getting a dance cover prepared with some of the other dancer, Anya and Jane. Anya she'd done a fair amount with, working with her heavily in the training camp and spending a lot of time making sure that the younger girl was settling in OK. She didn't know Jane as well, though she had been trying to get to know all of the other girls at least some since she was expected to be the leader.
She headed for the training rooms first, since she expected that that would be where Anya and Jane were, and if not, she could seek them out. There were a limited number of other possible places. She thought over possible covers that she could suggest to them once she explained what the CEO and manager wanted them to do. She could always suggest something from F(x), but she wasn't sure that she wanted to be too one note. She knew that Anya had done a number of Gfriend covers, which was always an option, but it also had the same drawback as her own initial thought. Two good options popped into her head as she walked into the trainee studio though, "Hwi Hwi" by Laboom and "What Is Love" by Twice. She figured that she'd start by suggesting those and see what the other two thought.
She looked around the studio to see who was there.

Jane headed to the training studio. On her way, she saw some other girls together and noticed that they appeared to be friends. She was barely acquaintances with them. Actually she was barley an acquaintance with all her peers, but she knew that that was her own fault. It had been that way back home too. Her brother had never allowed her to make friends with anyone.
After her brother’s death, she still did not try to make friends with anyone. This was not because of any lack of desire. It was partially because she did not know-how, and partially because she did not want to disobey her brother. Since he was dead, maybe he would be okay with her making friends now. They would not take up any time away from him. Still, she really had no idea.
Once there, Jane sat on the floor of the training studio and started stretching. Minutes later, she was getting some practice in, and dancing with herself.

Anya had been working on homework early in the morning, and then managed to meet up with Taijia for a bit to eat a snack together, and then she decided to see if the training room was available. Last she checked, and according to Taijia, it would be open most of the day, but that didn't mean someone else might be using it, just in case, she brought her headphones, but hoped she wouldn't have to use them. Taijia had been asked to do something special for his birthday, and since hers was coming up, she wanted to be prepared to have something to show people. She had picked a song she really liked, and had been working on making her own choreography for it (but had a different song with a pre-made choreography memorized as backup in case she couldn't figure out the choreography in time). Since it had been the week of Chuseok, the schedules for everyone were a little different than usual.
As she entered the training room, she noticed Jane and Seojin were there. Although Jane was one of the closer in age to her female trainees, she hadn't gotten to know the girl very well. Jane was pretty quiet, and seemed to keep to herself from what she had seen. And they didn't end up going to the same middle school, which could have possibly helped them become friends. "Unnie," she began, looking at Seojin and giving her a small bow, then doing the same to Jane. "I wasn't expecting all of us to be in here." She said with a short laugh.

Seojin was surprised when Anya came into the dance studio nearly on her heels, but she was relieved as well. The two people she was looking for were already where she needed them to be. She smiled down at Anya and said, "Hi," before saying, "Actually I'm really glad both of you are here because I was looking for you. The CEO wants us to come up with a dance cover to put on the social media for the trainees, for trying to build up the hype around the group. Specifically a dance cover, and thus the three of us."
She paused for a little bit, making sure that Jane and Anya were following what she was saying. She added, "I had a few ideas for potential songs, but I'm very open to other suggestions as well."
She pulled out her phone so that she could play the two dance's, and said, "The two that I was thinking of are Laboum's 'Hwi Hwi' or Twice's 'What Is Love.' I think that the dance from Laboum is more interesting, but Twice might get us more attention."
She watched the other two girls, wondering what they would think of the options or whether they'd have other suggestions.

Jane stopped when Seojin spoke. She was surprised that she, Seojin and Anya were both there. Jane nodded when she told them about the dance cover. It seemed like a good idea. They could probably use the hype.
Jane had trouble voicing her opinion on things, as doing so made her nervous, but she knew that she should contribute. “Um… I vote Hwi Hwi,” she said, mainly because she really liked the dance for it. After voicing her opinion, it occurred to her that “What Is Love,” probably would get more attention, so maybe they should go with that. She figured that it was probably too late to change her mind since she had already voiced her opinion. She also knew that there was a reason it was often suggested that people choose what comes to their mind first. She was not sure how much of a say her vote carried anyway.

Anya nodded enthusiastically, "I agree with Jane, I think Hwi Hwi would be fun, and that song is popular enough even if Laboum isn't as popular as Twice." She was excited they were getting a chance to showcase their dancing in a manner that wasn't competitive. She was especially honored to get the chance to work with the older trainees. Although Seojin hadn't dismissed her talent for dancing due to her age, she sometimes felt like the company did so, though she was pretty sure that was just in her mind's eye. And she hadn't had much chance to get to know Jane well, even though they were both dancers, close in age, and about to be part of the same band. So she was excited for the chance to work with the two of them.

Seojin grinned and said, slightly sheepish, "I'm glad that the two of you like 'Hwi Hwi' too. It's my preference for sure."
She'd not wanted to say her own preference at first, since she thought that one of the traits of being a good leader was making sure that she fully heard the others' opinions. She waved both of them over to where they could sit and said, "Let's watch Laboum's dance practice video for it together, and we can start brainstorming how we're going to approach our cover, since there's only three of us. We'll have to combine some parts, but I'm pretty sure that it works OK as a three part dance."
As she got the video started, she was pleased that she'd remembered correctly, and that most of the parts where the choreography was notably using all of the members, it was something that was symmetrical and could pretty easily be simplified to three, or it was the hook parts of the dance where every member was doing the same thing. There were even some cool bits that were already designed for three people.
She watched Anya and Jane for their reactions and said, "Do you want to start working on learning the basic choreography and then once we have that down, we can start on formations? There's a lot of it that's dancing in parallel."

Jane had of course, seen the video before. She had been taking dance classed by the time she first heard this song, but she had only danced to it by herself, never with other people. She had done plenty of dancing with other people since she started taking dance classes, and even more so since she came here, but most of her dancing experience was by herself. She felt like she would always be the little girl dancing by herself and that was just one of the reason why she sometimes feared that she should not be here.
Jane watched the video with different eyes today. She thought about how they might be able to do it in a group of three. She was impressed with herself for being able to think about that, but she would keep that to herself, as she kept most things to herself. After the video, Jane listened to Seojin’s suggestion, and nodded in agreement.

Anya watched the video, even though she'd done so many times before, intently, trying to catch anything she may have missed previously. She was trying to catch up on girl group dances because she honestly didn't pay a lot of attention to them prior to beginning the audition process. She liked watching the boy groups, or at the very least, Taijia's covers, and especially liked Yuseong after she had gotten to meet Kangwan back in the US. That hadn't changed after she had met the other members of Yuseong, either, convinced they were just a group of good people. Though she supposed when Remi was the only young adult to compare them too, the bar was set pretty low.
She also nodded along with Jane at Seojin's suggestion, adding in, "seems like a good idea..."

Seojin smiled at the two younger girls and fiddled with the video for a moment, getting the starting point to the beginning of the first chorus at 0:55 seconds. She said, "The chorus has the same hook dance and side by side sections each of the time it appears, and that's the part that's going to need the least blocking. We'll probably want to sit down and figure out our formations before we practice the rest, but getting started with this, especially since it's something that we can each practice alone while we're getting the other parts ready is probably good, especially since it's the most recognizable part of the dance. This section of the dance goes from here, at 55 seconds, through 1 minute 29 seconds, so that's a good chunk of dance."
She set herself up so that they could all watch it together a second time and said, "Pick one of them to focus on, we're not going to worry about the blocking that they do where they move around each other because if we end up needing to move around, we'll have to figure that out with the rest of the blocking."
She was pretty much ready having watched the dance twice in short succession and having practiced it before, closer to when it came out, so she figured that she could help Jane and Anya pick it up if they were struggling with parts. She asked, "You both ready to try it?"

Jane nodded, in agreement. It probably was the most recognizable part of the dance. The only part that she thought she might have trouble with was the blocking and moving around each other, but she had been able to do a decent job of that before. She was almost always better at dancing that she could do by herself then dancing that involved other people. Prior to taking dance classes, when she had just danced alone, she sometimes pretended that she was dancing with other people, but that was not the same thing, and not just because imaginary people did not make her nervous as real people did.
Jane was perfectly happy about the idea of not worrying about the blocking at first. That way she could master the easy part first, and that did not seem like a bad idea. Jane watched closely, memorizing the dance. She nodded when Seojin asked if they were ready.

Anya listened to Seojin's ideas before focusing on the video, deciding to focus on the one with "believe" on her shirt, as it was noticeable enough to be easy to follow, taking note of the dance moves and hoping she remembered them. She nodded when Seojin asked if they were ready, but she hoped she was right about that. She'd probably find some time to watch the video later so she could study all the dance moves and learn them properly.

Seojin nodded when they both said they were ready and said, "Let's set up facing the mirror and get started then. I'll stand in the center so that it's easier for me to watch all of us."
She went and put the tablet down near the mirror, and hooked it to the speaker, lining up the music to start a little bit before where they were planning to start so that she would have a few seconds to get in place between the two other girls.
She glanced back and said, "I'm going to start the music with a little bit of time before where we started, so we can just start with the chorus once I'm in place."
She went ahead and hit play, rushed back to her starting spot, and took the opening pose before starting the dance, keeping an eye on the other two to see if they struggled with any parts.

Jane got into position and waited for her cue. Waiting during the music, while not dancing to it was something that she had done before, but she had always found it weird and kind of hard. Her body wanted to move, as it did whenever she heard music, so she had to restrain from moving. She managed to do so while going over the moves in her head. When they got to the chorus, she started to dance.
She watched herself in the mirror as she danced. She was doing pretty well, but not perfect. The cool thing about dancing in dance studios was that they had mirrors, which seemed like a luxury.

Anya nodded at Seojin's instructions and readied herself to dance. She found standing in preparation to begin dancing kind of hard, and kind of silly, and she bit her lip to stop from smiling. As their start began, she began dancing, watching the other two in the mirror in between watching the video, curiosity getting the better of her. She was pretty sure she didn't do it perfectly, and possibly even lagged on a couple moves, but it was never enough to risk her running into the other two, so she tucked it away as things to continue to focus on in future practices.
