THIS EVENT IS OPEN!
Starting from 2019 June 15 and running until 2019 June 30, the audition camp for Dreams Ent will be a chance for trainees from around the world who have made it past the first round of auditions to try out to become a permanent trainee.
You are welcome to make a temporary/short term character for this event and post the short profile in this thread. Also, other applicable characters in the Seoul Setting can appear in threads (including Pending Characters). Just make sure to post in this thread first to say that you are attending!
Setting: Dreams Ent in Seoul, South Korea [board] [Seoul Setting]
Dates: 2019 June 15 - 2019 June 30
Scenario:
In early December 2018, an announcement was released by Dreams Ent that they would be holding a global audition. [thread] There were auditions held in a number of countries and cities, including the US (Seattle, SF, LA, New York, Chicago, Austin); Canada (Vancouver, Toronto, Ontario); Brazil (Rio de Janerio); Argentina (Buenos Aires); Peru (Lima); Australia (Sydney); China (Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong); Taiwan (Taipei); Singapore; Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur); Japan (Tokyo); and several countries in Europe. There were also open auditions during this time frame in Korea. The countries for auditions are open to be expanded upon, and they are flexible. This is mostly for getting ideas out there.
The auditions in Seattle happened 2019 March 16. [thread] The other North American (and South American) auditions would have been held pretty close to those in time. A lot of the Asian auditions probably happened before them, and the European ones after.
People who passed the initial auditions were invited to a 15 day long training camp at Dreams Ent in Seoul, South Korea from June 15th to June 30th. Dreams Ent will be covering at least some of the air fare, and there will be dorms for the potential trainees to stay in while they are there. At the end of the audition camp, they will select a small pool of trainees who they will offer training contracts to. We are encouraging people to make trial run characters! [As a note, you will have complete control over how your characters do at the auditions (and whether they get accepted as long term trainees afterwards).]
About Dreams Ent:
Dreams Entertainment is a small Kpop Company that's been around for several years. Their first major group was Yuseong, a five member boy group that debuted in early 2015 and has been moderately successful. They're currently looking to pursue making a few new groups to help capitalize on that success.
More information on Yuseong:
- Want Ad [here]
- Members: Joshua Kim (unclaimed) [leader], @shihyun (WIP), Yeo Taehoon , @qiwang , Kim Kangwan
The members of Yuseong will probably be involved in the audition process and camp to varying degrees. They may act as mentors, judges, trainers, or just role models who show up, or people who are run into in training rooms.
About the Global Audition Process:
There are 3 types of roles that people can audition as (though they may audition for more than one):
- Vocalist
- Dancer
- Rapper
However, all auditions will probably have asked for dance as an element. The first round of auditions had an initial performance for judges, and then a call back where the judges would ask for secondary performances. If someone was auditioning for multiple positions, they would have done performances of all types they were auditioning for in the first round.
About the Trainees:
There are some things that Dreams Ent would have been looking for in trainees:
- Of Asian descent (could be mixed; priority is often given to those of Korean descent)
- Between the ages of approximately 11 (though 13 would be a more standard low end age) and 21
- Relatively talented or showing potential in at least one of the three fields mentioned above (the younger the trainee is, the more they care about potential; the older a trainee is, the more they care about polished skills)
- Visual factor: Kpop is a very visuals heavy genre, and it is expected that Kpop idols will be good looking (this can end up meaning that trainees are recruited from a very narrow visual profile, the more talented, the farther from that they can get)
The Camp:
The training camp is going to be split into 4 stages with some overarching parts as well:
1) Training Boot Camp: [2019/6/15 - 2019/6/18] The first 4 days will be spent with trainees getting sorted into initial level classes (beginner, intermediate, advanced) for dance and one of vocals/rap. They will then all be learning an audition piece (the same for everyone). There will be intensive classes to get trainees used to the process. At the end of the Trainee Boot Camp, they will have a re-evaluation based on this audition piece.
2) Group Performances: [2019/6/19 - 2019/6/23] The next 5 days will be spent on training group performances in small groups that the trainees pick themselves. They will go from a song with pre-existing choreography to a performance to be given in front of the judges in 5 days, and then perform it for the judges to be reevaluated.
3) Position Performances: [2019/6/24 - 2019/6/29] The next 6 days will be devoted to trainees in small groups within their preferred position (vocal/dance/rap) creating performance stages (based on pre-existing songs) to present for the judges to be reevaluated.
4) The Final Audition: [2019/6/30] The final day of the camp will be the final audition, and its results will be live. A small number of trainees are going to be accepted into Dreams Ent. This stage will be streamed live.
Who Will Be There:
- There are a few pre-existing trainees who will be at the camp: Taijia Lin , Anya Young
- Event Characters: Woo Seojin , Felix Choi Sungjin
- The members of Yuseong (see above)
- Trainers (vocal/dance/rap), Managers, and CEO of the company (CEO and Lead Trainer will be managed by Etienne and Redeim )
- Interpreter/Translator: Thomas Fan Qiwang (he is being hired by Dreams Ent to act as an English/Chinese/Korean translator/interpreter for working with the trainees, since there will be some with no/next to no Korean; he will also probably be continuing to work with the company in this role, and as a tutor/teacher for trainees)
- Parents/guardians will be there for the parts where there are audiences (and they can be around but not at the training camp, the trainees will get a little bit of down time to see them)
- Any other characters in the Seoul setting have a chance to interact, but it might take a quick explanation of how they would connect) [Seoul Setting Characters: Thomas Fan Qiwang , @nari , @chansung ; Want Ad: Everything I'm Not (Taehoon).]
You are encouraged to ask lots of questions below and in the cbox! If you are thinking about making a short term character or a trial run character, let us know!
