Allen shares a two bedroom one bathroom apartment with his mother where they have lived since they first moved to Cedar Beach for her to teach at Cedar Beach Community College. While he at times contemplates moving into his own place, he's not sure enough of living alone with his health issues yet, and he's not got someone else to live with. This is the layout of their apartment:
Allen's bedroom is the one marked Den, and his mom has the one marked Bedroom. Since they are on the 6th floor, their deck has a rather nice view out towards the beach.
The apartment is overall nicely furnished, but both Allen and his mom have a rather minimalist style, not cluttering the space with things that they don't feel that they need. Allen keeps his desk and bed and a bookshelf in his room, and there is a couch and a small dining table along with many bookshelves in the main room.
The main form of decoration of the walls of the living and dining space are nature pictures that Allen has taken that his mom especially liked.
