Appearance
Face Claim: Jeong Dahyun
Anya is mixed Korean and Caucasian. Like her older brother, she has pale skin and wide eyes. She's very rarely seen without a smile of some sort, whether it be an eye smile, actual smile, or a general look of enjoyment. She seems to have stopped growing at 5'6.5" (169 cm), she's still hoping she'll grow some more even though she knows it's not likely. Her weight is currently around 110 lbs (45 kg). She's very healthy, and has a body that displays her playful nature. Her eyes are a more dark brown than her brother's, as is her natural hair color. She doesn't have any physical scars, and her ears are not pierced, though she has interest in getting them done. Unlike her brother, she has a non-existent British accent, since she was only about 2 when they moved to the United States, and she only picked up some of the accent from her family, except for a select few words, she has all but lost any trace of a British accent she had.
Her style is a mixture of extremely girly and tomboyish. She doesn't seem to have a preferred style of dress, but definitely leans more heavily into cutesy outfits, or conversely, clothes that are easy to dance in.
Personality
Anya is one to always reach out to people she perceives as needing help, or a friend, or a joke. Because of her friendly personality, she tends to have a lot of friends. She's very rarely afraid to approach someone, especially if it's a peer. Because of growing up with Remi, she's also very quick to pick up on mood shifts, and knows how to react accordingly. She makes a good friend due to this trait, as she'll be one of the first people to start trying to cheer up a friend when they're upset. Anya grew up learning to "be aware" because of her unpredictable older brother. Because of specific, strict rules, that honestly used to scare her as a toddler, she very much follows the rules. Although she has her minor bursts of rebellion, it's never anything more serious than staring someone in the eye while eating a cookie after being told not to (or the like).
Her weakness is seeing people get bullied. She's very much against discrimination, and the bullies being bigger/older than her don't scare her (because if they really hurt her, they'll have to respond to Remi). When she watches or reads stories of someone getting bullied though, she's been known to cry because people are getting hurt (even if they're imaginary). As she's gotten older, she started developing a bit of a inferiority complex, because her school performance is average to good, while Remi's grades were seemingly always perfect without him even trying, and even her best friend is a genius when it comes to school.
Her strength is because of her experience with her brother, she very receptive to noticing a shift in emotions, especially if the shift turns aggressive. She's also afraid of very little.
Family
MOTHER
Name: Elena Young (nee Schultz)
Birth Year: 1973
Occupation: Psychiatric Doctor
Feelings Toward: Anya and her mom are very close, and growing up Anya often liked to spend time with her cooking, or just generally goofing off. She misses her mom and talks to her on the phone frequently.
FATHER
Name: John Dongshin Young
Birth Year: 1973
Occupation: Neurosurgeon
Feelings Toward: She loves her dad, and they're close, but because of his busy schedule, she never got to spend a lot of time with him before moving to Korea.
OLDER BROTHER
Name: Remiel Young
Birth Year: 1998
Occupation: Violinist for Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra
Feelings Toward: She loves her brother, but as she's gotten older, gets annoyed with him more easily. She's familiar now with just what it means to have an older brother with schizophrenia, but it doesn't make her love or look up to him any less. Although she was at first torn about how she felt that he became her guardian whilst in Korea, she's since appreciated that it's let her get to know Remi without their parent's helicoptering them both.
BEST FRIEND
Name: Taijia Lin
Birth Year: 2008
Occupation: Trainee
Feelings Toward: Her best friend. She has bittersweet feelings around them both being accepted into the same company, but it's mainly because she's used to seeing him every day and now they hardly get to see each other. Even if she has moments of jealousy towards Taijia, she's forever proud to be his friend and is one of his biggest supporters.
BANDMATE
Name: Ah Shieon
Birth Year: 01/23/2001
Occupation: Idol - Rapper
Feelings Toward: Not super close, but Anya respects and looks up to her.
BANDMATE
Name: Woo Seojin
Birth Year: 04/04/2002
Occupation: Idol - Leader and Main Dancer
Feelings Toward: Anya got close to Seojin during the training camp, and Anya's admiration for her has not waned as time has gone on. She greatly respects Seojin and is thankful for her unnie's patience and kindness.
BANDMATE
Name: An Hayun
Birth Year: 05/05/2003
Occupation: Idol - Main Vocal
Feelings Toward: Also not super close, but she respects Hayun and they can get along.
BANDMATE
Name: Elena Moon
Birth Year: 04/13/2005
Occupation: Idol - Lead/Main Vocal
Feelings Toward: Completely awkward with her. She feels like every time her and Elena have to interact off camera, they seem to butt heads. She still respects Elena, but she can't seem to get along well with her.
History
Anya was an accident. No one had to tell her, she's kind of come to that conclusion on her own, considering what her family's state of mind was during the time she was born. Still, she is very loved and never felt treated as an accident. As a baby, she helped her brother become well enough to leave the psychiatric hospital, and their close bond is well appreciated but still a bit of a mystery. When Anya was almost two, the family moved to the United States due to job opportunities. Anya's "first memory" (she no longer actually remembers it, but it has been talked about enough in the family she knows it happened) is of soon after they moved, and her brother killed a dog. He hadn't known she was there, and still winces in regret when she brings it up. It was a rather traumatizing and shaky start to their new life. By the time Anya started school, she was excited to get to meet new people and make friends, everything her parents told her would be 'the norm' of going to school, besides of course learning. However, in preschool and kindergarten, she was teased for her accent, and kids are cruel.
By the time she reached first grade, her accent had started fading significantly, not because she wanted it to, but just because outside of the home, everyone she heard seemed to speak with an American accent. She had an easier time making friends, though her "bestest friend in the world" moved away after first grade. This was okay though, because in second grade she was able to make a new best friend. He was quiet, smart, and moody and really reminded her of her brother, so naturally, she latched on to him. Anya went past the point of just being "Remi's little sister(/shadow)" as she entered middle school, and she's become less dependent on him in order to become her own person.
In summer of 2019, she was formally accepted into Dreams Entertainment, after passing auditions in March of the same year, and attending a training camp for two weeks in Seoul. She was super excited, especially since Taijia was also accepted as a dancer and vocalist. As she returned home from the training camp, she got to work on getting more fluent in Korean, and making sure she was practicing dance and singing while she prepped for moving to Korea for the long haul. To be doing so at 13 was nothing short of nerve-wracking for her, and she was actually somewhat relieved when she found out Remi was going to be going to school in Korea, and could be near her. It took her a while to really appreciate having Remi with her in Korea, and now that she's almost to adulthood, has really learned more about her brother and their bond has gotten even better without their parents constantly watching over them.
It didn't take her long to make friends with most of the people in the company, though it was a bit of a culture shock both in terms of generically and because she's currently the second youngest in the entire company. The lead up to debut felt like it flew by to her, and a couple years later, she's gotten more comfortable in her role, and is loving everything to do with being an idol.
