- knows how to cook really well, but is sick of cooking
- has been working at the family restaurant with very basic stuff since he was 7, and officially started working there when he turned 13
- has increasingly ridiculous stories from living in such a small town. he's not lying about any of them
- his favorite item is the rainbow sticker on his phone case from his favorite high school teacher
- very nervous when meeting new people cause he hasn't really done it since high school, and hasn't had to meet more than a handful of people since kindergarten
- really hates guns
- not a vegetarian, but gets very queasy when he sees his meat before it's prepared (as in, someone (like his dad or brother) went hunting and brought back their dinner in the back of the truck). he especially can't eat it if he catches the skinning or gutting process.
- had a flip phone until he moved in with his friends in olympia. he still has it, but his friends bought him a smartphone
- a lot of technology confuses him, especially brand new technology, but he is addicted to his smart phone
- prior to moving out of the town, the last time he had tried to watch a music video was back in 2010, and it took him 25 minutes to watch an almost five minute long video
❖ friends: he has a small group of friends of about 4 people who live in olympia that he met through various cross country meets back in his home town. they let him stay with them while raein was doing his student teaching. they're all of various asian backgrounds. other than them, raein doesn't really remember how to make friends because it's been a long time since he's encountered people he hadn't known since kindergarten. he also has two friends who went to the same school as him, and they were the only poc in the school.
❖ family: he is closer to his grandparents and mom than he is his dad, and his dad has always been a "manly man" type that rubs raein the wrong way. he was never close with his brother, either.
❖ love interest(s): raein's never been in love. he's had a few crushes on like... magazine models, but hasn't actually been in love. falling in love requires confessing, which requires coming out.
