Elena scooted her chair over next to Felix and rested her head on his shoulder. "You make me feel like I'm home, so I feel safe here with you," she said.
"I'm surprised you feel that nervousness too since you've been in and around it for so long. But it makes me feel better to know that I'm not the only one." She looked at the baristas still whispering while staring her way. "On the bright side, as nervous as I am, I have terribly thick skin," she said, smiling and waving at them.

Felix smiled at Elena, "Yeah, I think I get that feeling. I didn't realize just how much I missed speaking Spanish with someone."
He mulled over her words for a moment before commenting, "I think because this is something different than what I'm used to. Even if I was just modeling here, I'd still feel a bit nervous, but I'd be more in my comfort zone. As for singing and dancing, it's totally new, and no one knows me here, outside of fans I gained from the training camp and subsequent lives... It's refreshing, to not be known as 'that child model' or 'Fernando's baby brother,' but it's also intimidating to not have that clout..." He waved a hand and scrunched up his face, "I don't know if I'm making any sense."

Elena nodded, "it makes sense. It's good to stand on your own two feet and not in anyone's shadow."
She stopped leaning her head on Felix and instead scooted closer and leaned an arm on his shoulder, "so homework help?" she said with a grin. "Thank you hermano, I feel much better."

He nodded enthusiastically, "yes!" He said with a short chuckle. He gave her a smile, and patted her back, "I'm glad. It's tough to be here when you're used to a completely different culture. So, I'm glad we have each other."

Elena nodded, "I'm glad we have each other too!" She reached over and turned Felix's laptop towards her, "what are you working on?"
She quickly read through the writing prompt and was about to offer her help when her stomach grumbled. "Uh oh, do you think they'll be utterly scandalized if I go up and talk to them?" There was nothing for it though, she was hungry and this was a cafe, so she'd get something to eat. "I'll be right back."
She stood and approached the counter at her normal, bouncy pace, but remembered to slow down as she got there, "hello, could I please get a parfait?"
The two workers behind the counter seemed hesitant. "What flavor?" one finally managed to ask.
Elena beamed, "whatever your favorite is!" she said with a burst of energy that made both girls recoil. "Sorry..." she said trying to make herself quieter.
Neither worker seemed willing to let go of the other and make the parfait or take her money so she looked back at Felix helplessly.

Felix came to join Elena at the helpless face, and he chuckled a bit. "Do you need help with something? Your Korean is better than mine..." Felix asked Elena softly in Spanish as he approached. He noticed the two girls behind the counter seemed nervous around Elena, perhaps because of the skinship they saw from her, or perhaps because she was louder than they were used to. "A parfait, please. W-whatever um... if you have a favorite, then that one." He tried awkwardly, keeping his voice at a normal volume and giving the girls a smile.
One of the cashiers seemed to question his phrasing a bit, but understood what it was Elena wanted and hesitantly re-approached the register. "H-how does blueberry sound?" She asked, looking between Felix and Elena hesitantly, as if expecting Elena to (in her eyes) yell at her again. "It's very popular." She added meekly.

Elena looked at Felix and said in quiet, quick Spanish, "I said it to them in Korean but they still won't help."
She smiled when the barista finally approached and suggested blueberry. She took a breath, trying to make sure she was calmer, "that sounds great. Also, I apologize for being loud and hyper, it's just in my nature."
Elena paid, then linked her arm with Felix's and steered them back to the table. "What homework do you need help with?" she asked, cozying up next to him so their thighs were touching.

Felix noticed Elena's apology seemed to calm down the baristas, and he let himself be steered back to the table.
He sat down and let out a sigh, waking up his computer again. He seemed to ignore their skinship, it ultimately only bothered him because he knew skinship was a culture faux pas. "Well... Like I said, I'm terrible at English." He explained with a laugh, pulling the rubric out of his backpack and showing it to Elena. "I have to write a 500 word essay about my family, but I can't think of the hobbies they like, let alone how to turn this-" he pulled out the paper he used for brainstorming, "-into 500 words."

Elena took the rubric from Felix and looked it over. "Okay, do you not know their hobbies or do you not know how to say them in English or Korean?" She looked at her watch, "what time is it there? Could you call them and ask them? I can help with any translation."
She perked up as a barista tentatively approached her with a drink, "thanks!" she said, forgetting to dim down her normal enthusiasm. The barista set the drink on the edge of the table and practically ran away. Elena barely had time to catch the teetering drink, "whew, good thing I'm fast," she said, taking a sip of her rescued drink.

Felix checked the time and shook his head, "I can't call them, it's 12 hours off from here. My family would be asleep." He pulled out the notes he had done with his teacher. "Let's see, for my brother, I said he likes to act. Then for my mom, I said she likes to cook. But for my sister and dad, I can't think of anything. I guess my sister likes... I don't know, helping people? She is a nurse..." He rambled.
He let out a panicked sound when the barista ran off and left the drink in a precarious position, but he calmed when Elena caught it. "You're lucky..." He muttered, glancing at the baristas and keeping his voice low even though he was still speaking Spanish. "I have a feeling... Not many trainees come in here. There's not a lot of foreigners in the company, but there's enough you'd think they'd be used to the different personalities. I know of the Yuseong hyungs, one of them was from America and another from Taiwan." He shrugged, "or maybe they're new."

Elena thought about it for a minute, "does it have to be the truth? Could you just make up something your sister and dad like? Or maybe you know what they dislike and you can write about that." She leaned in closer, "you probably know the basic sentence structure as your grammar lesson, right? So all you need are the words 'cooking' and 'acting'" she said the words in English for him.
She looked to the workers and back at Felix, and shrugged. "I'm aware I have a big personality. I've found it's extremely off-putting to Koreans, but I have always been and will always be unapologetically myself so if that means people are going to throw drinks and me and run away, I just need to get better at catching."

Felix considered that idea for a bit. "Uhh... oh! Wait, my dad likes watching fútbol, duh." He said, shaking his head. He scribbled down 'to watch football' before remembering that, for whatever reason, the English he was using called it something else. He crossed out football, "Eh.. Elena, what is it that Americans call fútbol?" He was still trying to think of something for his sister's hobby; growing up, it seemed like all she liked to do was study. "I guess my sister likes reading... I could probably use that." He paused over his sister's name before looking through his notebook before finding what he was looking for and writing 'reading' under his sister's name. He tried spelling the words 'cooking' and 'acting,' but glanced at Elena to make sure he had spelled them right.
He smiled at her last comment, "I mean, it's admirable you don't plan to change yourself. I think in time they'll get used to you. I think it will also be something interesting for fans once you guys debut. The international fans would probably appreciate someone they could relate with more, y'know?"

Elena clapped, happy Felix seemed to be remembering more for his assignment. "Are you learning American English? I know some teachers aren't American. If it is American English, then the word you're looking for is 'soccer.'"
She checked his spelling and approved. "You can also tell your teacher how old everyone is and what their job is. Maybe their favorite food or favorite color too. 500 hundred words will go by in a flash!"
"Have you found yourself changing after you came to Korea?" she asked, leaning into her philosophical whim.

Felix nodded, "Yeah, my teacher is American." He wrote down 'soccer.' over his dad's name and stared at the paper for a while. He wrote down his mom's favorite food, knowing that she loved deokkbokki. He added yellow under his sister's name, and red under his brother, writing both in Korean. He paused a moment before writing nopalitos hesitantly under his sister's name. "That's for the ideas." He said, giving Elena a smile.
Felix thought a moment and nodded hesitantly. "I was warned to not be as... Hispanic, I guess? Um like, I was warned about like, not being as affectionate, especially not with opposite gender friends, but like, I'm gay anyway. And I guess not being as loud, but I was never very loud." He explained, making sure he was speaking in fairly quiet Spanish for the whole explanation.

Elena watched as Felix jotted down his notes. "I'm glad I was able to help."
"I was told to tone it down too, but I don't think I really know how. Also, I think I might already be toning it down a bit. I'm usually much louder and way more physically affectionate." Elena lifted her legs and draped them over Felix's lap, leaning in closer. "Thank you for feeling comfortable enough to tell me. I'm bisexual. I'll keep your secret. Let me know if I can help set you up with someone. I'm happy to help."
