Hyojae smiled, "Great!" He said, gently handing his bowl over to Yang. He waited patiently as seconds were being made, and let out a small chuckle at the leftovers comment. "I do suspect labeling the food is a good idea. For anything so we can still have food when we would like to eat it."

Yang was pretty sure that if Nika saw him like this with Hyojae, she'd tease him for being painfully domestic, and half of his mind was tempted to tease himself for it. At the same time though, it was getting Hyojae to relax around him at least some, and that was something that had taken him a long time to figure out how to do. It was nice, and he didn't really mind his self-accusation of being painfully domestic if it made Hyojae happy. It wasn't like Yang minded cooking and taking care of the house. He wasn't entirely sure why it made him so nervous in this context though.
As he brought back the second servings and placed them on the table, he asked, "How have your other plants been doing?"
He hoped that it would be a topic of conversation that would be comfortable for Hyojae, especially since he enjoyed hearing him talk.

Hyojae couldn't help the smile that formed as a second bowl of food was placed in front of him. He took a few bites before realizing Yang had asked him something, and he paused to think over the life quality of his current collection of plants. "A few of them are struggling a bit with the weather, but I moved them closer to the heater and that seemed to help. Otherwise, they seem to be doing fine. I had to prune a couple of them, so some of them... looking a little bare." He let out a soft laugh at the mental image of the worse off of those plants, a particularly sensitive flower that only got away with a few leaves and one flower left. "But they're fine. A couple of the winter plants have started blooming..." He hesitated a moment before looking up to Yang, mixing his soup absently in a nervous gesture, "would you like to come see them after we clean up?" He offered.

Yang was glad to see Hyojae continuing to seem to actually enjoy the food. It encouraged him to try to learn to make more of these Korean dishes that he knew Hyojae sometimes mentioned missing. He'd have to explore recipes on the internet more. It definitely helped that he liked it as well.
He smiled a little bit, watching how animated Hyojae got talking about his plants, and then startled a little bit when Hyojae offered to let him come visit them. He nodded quickly and said, "If that's OK with you, I'd love to get the chance to come look at them. You'll have to tell me about each of them though."
He could feel himself blushing just a little bit, glad that it didn't show super much when he did. He didn't normally go into Hyojae's room. They were closer than they had been when they were in high school, Yang hoped that that was a trend that would continue, but he knew that there were still times that he could make Hyojae nervous, and he really didn't want to make Hyojae nervous. Even so, Hyojae offering to show him the plants in his room seemed like a big moment of trust.

Hyojae nodded, "Of course." He said simply. He looked down at his food, and felt like his heart a beating a bit faster than it should be. It was just his room, it wasn't like he inviting Yang to live in the room with him or anything, just come in for a bit to see his plants. So why was his heart beating so fast? "Stupid anxiety." He mouthed slightly, hoping Yang didn't notice. He took a few bites, hoping the focus on food would calm him down.
He only got about halfway through before his stomach was churning too much and he couldn't eat anymore. No matter how many time he told his anxiety it was being overactive again, his mind was racing. When did he last vacuum? How clean was his room, actually? Should he have cleaned the window he keeps the plant by? What if there was something embarrassing laying around out in the open? He gently pushed the bowl towards the middle of the table. "I guess I wasn't as hungry for a second bowl as I thought..." He muttered. He gave Yang a smile, though he felt with all the thoughts racing through his head it probably looked fake, "It was really good though, so thank you for making it."

Yang was finishing up his own second serving as Hyojae decided that he was done. Hyojae seemed nervous, and Yang was momentarily worried that he'd done something, but Hyojae didn't seem to be shying away from him, so Yang tried not to show that he was worried about making Hyojae nervous.
He smiled at Hyojae and said, "Let me pack up the leftovers then. I'll put what's still in your bowl plus enough to fill the container in a container with your name on it, and the rest of it in containers with a warning that I cooked it, so hopefully the others will leave it alone and one of us can eat it."
He went and did what he'd said, clearing the table and washing things or putting them in the dishwasher before Hyojae got a chance to stand up. He was glad that he'd been cleaning up as he went, so there wasn't much left to do, and in a few minutes, everything was at worst sitting clean in the drying rack or in the dishwasher waiting for it to be full enough to run.
He came back over to the table, hoping that he'd given Hyojae a chance to compose himself, and nudged the little succulent a little closer to Hyojae, asking, "Do we want to go get this one settled and you can tell me about how the other plants are doing?"

Hyojae was thankful Yang was seeming to be receptive to his nervousness and was willing to give him time to calm down. "Sounds good." He said quietly, taking the new plant and heading into his room. As he went in, he looked around to make there was nothing that could be perceived as embarrassing, which he determined the only things even remotely embarrassing was the KPop posters on wall, but everyone in the house knew he was a fan of that, and made a space on his windowsill for the new plant, moving one of the plants that seemed like it would do better by the heater. He also misted a couple other plants that were getting dry before returning to the kitchen, his hand hiding in his sweater sleeves. "You can come see..." He said to Yang hesitantly, still a bit nervous about it.

Yang washed the remaining dishes while waiting for Hyojae to be ready, glad he'd cleaned up as he went. He was wiping his hands on the kitchen towel just as Hyojae reemerged, and he hurried over to Hyojae, small smile on his face. He said softly, "Perfect timing. Everything's cleaned up."
He was a little bit tentative about following Hyojae into his room, but he also actually wanted to see the plants and listen to what Hyojae had to say about them. Seeing Hyojae light up talking about plants was always a highlight of Yang's day when it happened, and Yang actively really liked the plants, even though he wasn't good at taking care of them himself.
He added as he followed Hyojae into the room, "I want to hear all about the set up and what you've been doing with the plants if you're up for it. Your plants are cool."
He bit his tongue on saying that he just liked listening to Hyojae talk about things he cared about. It wouldn't have been productive, and he had enough restraint to know that.

Hyojae nodded and led Yang into his room, motioning to his windowsill and the lean-to shelf just under it, with one shelf equal height to the windowsill. The top shelf was against the window, and he motioned to a couple cacti on that shelf, "this shelf, and the actual windowsill are for the plants that need a lot of sun. The cacti are on the top shelf to also have access to the UV light when it's gray and well... being Washington," he motioned to the lamp. He had initially gotten it as a teen for himself, but it turned out to be useful for the plants that lived with him in Washington but needed a lot of sun, and he really didn't need it for himself anymore.
He pointed to the plants on the lower levels and knelt next to the shelf. "The zinnia, Egyptian star clusters, and Lantana all are better with heat, so they stay down here near the heater vent. They still get the light from the UV lamp, too." He stood back up, not looking at Yang, suddenly feeling embarrassed, like he was talking too much. "The ones on the middle shelves are the ones that need moderate light and heat, but I move them around if I see they need a little more of something. He glanced at Yang, unsure of what else to say. Did he really want him to explain every plant? What did Yang think of his room. He patted his sides with his hands still hidden in his sleeves.
