Taijia nodded and smiled, kind of hoping to impress Kangwan and went to put the music back on. He said, "I'll try from what I remember, but I definitely didn't get all of it the first time."
He started the music, dancing along to the bits that he remembered, and coming pretty close to nailing the chorus choreography, but there were stretches in between where he had to stop because he didn't know and just count the time until the next bit he remembered came. He smiled at the end though because he'd been dancing for at least half the song. He wasn't sure on a few of the parts, but at least the chorus he'd done well on.
He smiled up at Kangwan and asked, "How was that?"

Kangwan sat on the couch, smiling at Taijia's excitement to be learning. He was a bit shock as the boy actually succeeded at quite a bit of it. "Do you want to take my place in the band? They'd like teaching you do dance more than me." He muttered in Korean, purely as a joke. He clapped, shaking his head at his own comment. "Wow, you're really a quick learner! You had almost everything you tried correct!" He praised. He stood up, getting into the beginning position. "Alright, so we start like this, and you got this part right, but for fluidity, we'll go over all of it, okay?" He said, a new sort of energy forming in him. Something about watching Taijia so determined reminded him why he wanted to join a group in the first place: passion.

Taijia replied very earnestly, "I think that I'm a little young for your band. Some of the members are over ten years older than me."
He paused, looking up hopefully, then added shyly, "Do you think that I'm really good enough to be in one eventually?"
He beamed at Kangwan's praise though and happily fell in to learning the beginning properly, saying, "Of course we start from the beginning, that means we don't accidentally miss anything."

Kangwan frowned, "Yeah, kid... don't remind me how old you're not." He grumbled, making a face at Taijia when the boy wasn't looking. Still, he nodded, "Yeah, I do. You're good at following along to something you're unfamiliar with, even if it's not perfect. You know Key-sunbaenim, from SHINee? He claims to be able to watch a dance once and then do it. You're the same, you're already like sunbae level." He praised.
He nodded, attempting to keep the rhythm so Taijia couldn't find something else to correct him on as they began to go through the dance step by step. He paid more attention to where Taijia had forgotten the move, or where he may have messed up.

Tai shook his head, shy of that much praise, even though it made him feel kind of warm and happy inside. He said softly, "I just learned from videos a lot before my Uncles could afford dance classes. I still use them, even though I have a private teacher now. He's a real choreographer and everything."
Tai thought about it for a second and then added, "I want to start trying to choreograph things for my self at some point too. That seems interesting."
He watched very earnestly, following along behind Kangwan as he went through the dance. All of the pieces seemed to come together as he had someone to watch, and when they got to the end he said firmly, "I think that I got the parts that I missed the first time. Thank you hyung."

Kangwan raised an eyebrow, "Really? how cool. You must feel really lucky." He shook his head slightly, "but not, it's a good skill to have, I think you'd really have the potential, once your uncles let you audition, that is."
He bit his lip, "I can't really help you with self choreographing," He admitted, scrunching up his face as he shook his head, "I'm really not the dancer of my own group, though I can dance, I was kind of something of a black hole when it comes to learning new dances. But if it's something you're interested in, I'd suggestion talking with your dance teacher about it."
He smiled after they'd gone through the dance, giving Taijia a smile and ruffling the boy's hair a bit. "No problem, kid." He assured him.

Taijia flopped to the floor, getting comfortably into a butterfly stretch while they weren't dancing. He said thoughtfully, "I can see how it would be good. I can learn things from people I don't even know, and styles that my dance teacher doesn't really focus on."
He smiled up at Kangwan, looking very wide eyed and said, "Would you be willing to watch things that I've worked on and tell me what you think? You know more about dance and idol dance than my uncles do. And I wouldn't be as worried showing you first as my teacher. Maybe someday I'll be as good a choreographer as Ren-laoshi, but I want him to see things I'm confident with when I show him."
After he'd stretched for a little bit again, he said, "Can I show you what I've got now that we've gone through it together and you can look for anything I'm doing wrong?"

Kangwan watched as the boy casually began stretching again, remembering the days when he was nimble enough to stretch so casually. He sighed, but nodded, "Exactly. It's a good opportunity and skill to have."
He sat down on the floor, leaning against the coffee table as he nodded. "Sure, I'll look it over. Though I'm sure your dances are fine." He brought his legs up to his chest. "Like I said, I can't say I'll be a good judge of it, but if I find anything awkward, I'll let you know." He assured the boy.

Tai hopped up, nodding seriously, and put on the song from Kangwan's group again, look of intense focus on his face as he danced the choreography again for Kangwan's approval. He was pretty sure he had the entire thing now, after going through it with Kangwan, but it was still new, and he definitely needed to practice to make it sharper.
When he was done, he smiled and Kangwan and asked, "How was that?"
He came and sat by him and said, "I've not got anything of my own ready to show you yet, but now that I know you'd be willing to look at it, even if you can't tell me much for sure, then I'll try to have something for you to see next time you come watch me. You'll come watch me again right?"

"You're really good! Such a quick learner!" Kangwan praised, clapping once Taijia was done. He was nodding a bit absent-mindedly as Taijia talked, but couldn't help but smile at the boy's question. "Of course." He promised. "You're a really good dancer, and I really think you have a lot of promise." He praised. "So, not only does it seem to mean a lot to you, but it means a lot to me, to see someone that has a really good chance in the future." His grin widened, "Maybe one day we'll see each other on stage."

Taijia got a kind of distant look on his face and asked shyly, "Do you really think I could, really? That would be amazing. I'd want to be on a stage at the same time as you. You're cool, and that would mean I was cool too, right?"
He flopped down next to Kangwan and asked, "You mostly are one of the singers for your group, right? What is learning to be good at that like? I need to practice more, but I can do that without having to take classes because my Uncles teach me."

Kangwan's face turned to one of surprised for a moment before it became humble embarrassment. "I don't know how cool I really am, but yeah, I do think you have what it takes." He said, hoping this wasn't something Yunjin had already denied the boy at one point. His teacher didn't seem like that kind of person, but he could understand the want to keep family close, at least somewhat.
Kangwan nodded, then looked away thoughtfully, "Singing practice is really... It's doing a lot of silly things with your voice, honestly." He smiled, embarrassed for a different reason, "honestly, if I practice for a long time, my voice really starts cracking." He said with a small chuckle. "A big part of it is listening to how you sing, and learning to match your voice to a certain pitch or range. It's a lot like learning to play an instrument, but it's your own body that you're tuning." He explained, hoping it made sense to the boy.

Taijia nodded earnestly as he listened to Kangwan, looking up at him, clearly very interested in what he had to say. When Kangwan wound down, he asked very earnestly, "Would you sing something?"
He liked listening to people sing. All of his Uncles liked to sing, and they'd often sung him to sleep when he was little, and they would sing around the house a lot in general: Uncle Hwannie little snippets of whatever he was working on, but also a whole array of pop songs that he liked, and other things; Uncle Sheng a mix of Chinese (and occasionally Korean) folk songs and whatever pop music he'd picked up from Uncle Hwannie; and Uncle Jin a whole array of things, often influenced by what the choir at the high school was singing. Tai liked to sing too, but he was a little bit shy of singing in front of Kangwan because he had very little training, though Uncle Jin had said he'd teach him if he wanted a long with instruments.
He added very shyly, "I can sing something too if you want, but I'm not very good, not like with dancing, though maybe I can get better if I practice a lot. Uncle Jin said he'd teach me, and instruments too if I wanted, is it good for idols to know instruments? Which instruments?"

Kangwan was hesitant to immediately agree, mostly because he hadn't been practicing in a long time, but the more Taijia talked, the more he was willing to agree. He smiled, and it actually came out playful, "I'll sing something, but if you know any, can you sing one of my band's songs?" He asked with a small chuckle. "Consider it a pre-debut cover." He made a fist, mimicking holding a microphone, and singing one of his recent favorite songs, See You Again. He listened to it probably every day, and some days, it was harder to listen to than others. He only sang the chorus, since the rest of it was rap and despite listening to it so often, he was still perfecting his English. ((Note: The song he sings is this one. Yes, English song, I know. :b))

Taijia listened to Kangwan sing, eyes wide, clearly fascinated. He smiled when Kangwan was done and said, "You really can sing really well. I like listening to your voice."
He looked down shyly and said, "I'm not very good yet. I need to practice more, but since you sang for me, I should sing for you too, it's only fair."
He fiddled with his shirt, thinking for a moment. He liked Kangwan's band's songs. But he wasn't sure that he could sing something so fast as some of their songs, especially not when he was nervous about. He liked the ballad that was the B song on their first single though. And he bit his lip, glancing up at Kangwan, saying, "Um, it's one of the songs from your debut, I liked it, so I know all the words, but I'm not that good."
He closed his eyes when he sang it, looking very intent, trying to make sure he got all the words right. His voice was a little bit high for some of the parts, and he had to reach for the lower notes, and his tone was over all kind of thin and distinctively childish, but he was on pitch, and he had very good breath control, and overall sounded better than he thought he did.
When he finished singing, he looked over at Kangwan curious and a little nervous about what the older boy would think.
((I'm thinking it's a song sort of along the same sort of lines/sound as this one youtu.be/qx8f1-_pQwg ))
