Kangwan blinked a couple times in amazement, he'd never met a kid Taijia's age that could do high school level math, so he was now curious if the kid was as good as he claimed to be. He pointed to the next question wordlessly, writing out the problem on his own paper as he waited for Taijia to begin as well. He didn't want to be shown up by a seven year old, but another part of him was really curious just how much the younger boy knew. Eventually he got around to the answer, double and triple checking he'd done this one correctly, before finally glancing up to Taijia.

Tai took a little bit longer than Kangwan to work his way through the problem, biting his lip and wrinkling his eyebrows together as he rearranged numbers in an unfamiliar way. He eventually looked up, realizing that Kangwan was done, and held out his piece of paper so that Kangwan could check. He said tentatively, "I think I got it."
He watched Kangwan to see what the older boy would say, hoping that he had in fact figured it out correctly. Fidgeting a little bit, he added very softly, "Once we're done with this one, can we go practice dance, since I'm done with my homework?"

Kangwan compared the two math problems, ultimately amazed at the little boy's skills. "Um.. yeah, you almost got it all correct, but this part right here, I think you got a little confused, and so your answer's off." He said, pointing out the part where Taijia messed up. He furrowed his eyebrows, frowning somewhat, "Unless I messed it up..." He muttered under his breath, not 100% sure.
He blinked a couple times, looking at the other boy's homework. "Already...?" He groaned, hoping he'd be able to knock out more homework before the boy was done. Still, he nodded. "Yeah, we can." He said with a nod.

Taijia compared his work to Kangwan's, frowning a little bit, since for most of the work, it looked like they'd done the same thing. He compared each step, pointing at them on the two pages as he went, trying to find where their answers became different, and eventually stopped at the square root, then he let out a small laugh, "Kangwan-hyung, the square root of 121 is 11, not 12."
He looked up at Kangwan, checking to see the older boy's reaction. He wasn't sure if he felt a little bit bad or not for catching two different arithmetic errors from the older boy, but he was just a little bit smug.
When Kangwan seemed surprised that he was already done, he nodded and said, "The homework is too easy, that's why it doesn't take long, but all the Uncles say that I have to do it even though I already understand it all. It seems a little bit silly."
He stood up and waited for Kangwan to also stand so that he could lead the way over to where he practiced his dancing. He asked, "What sort of music do you usually dance to?"

Kangwan felt his cheeks burning as he squeaked out loud, quick to erase and fix his work. "I'm not the greatest at math, okay?!" He squeaked. He fixed the problem, now seeing the had the same answer, and shut his book before the boy could find any other errors he had. He cleared his throat, patting his cheeks a bit in hopes of getting the color to return to normal. "I was always pretty average in school, but I guess I can see where you're coming from; if you already know the stuff, you shouldn't have to learn something under that. It's a bit silly, but I guess it can't really be helped." He said, giving Taijia an understanding frown. He thought over the type of music he danced to. "Well, when I'm not practicing new choreography, I guess it's mostly dance music?" He said with a shrug. He waved a hand. "But I can adapt, go ahead and play whatever you've been practicing with." He assured the boy.

Taijia looked down just a tiny bit sheepish, tugging at his ponytail for a second, and whispered, "Sorry, I was kind of showing off. I don't want to make you feel bad though."
He added, "Uncle Sheng told me that maybe we could see about sending me to a private school where they could push me more, but he made the face that he makes when things are more expensive than he wants them to be, so I never asked about it more. I know that all three of my Uncles work really hard because of me, and I don't want that to be even harder."
Taijia lightened his mood a bit as he headed towards where he practiced dance in a part of the living room that had been set up for it because it had a nice, springy hardwood floor. He thought for a moment and then said slightly shy, "I've heard the song that Uncle Hwannie wrote for your group, and I like it. Is there a dance to that? Could you show it to me if there is?"

Kangwan shook his head, "no, it's alright." He said with a small laugh. "I'm not very good at math whereas you clearly have a talent for it." He affirmed.
He nodded in understanding. Money was always a frustrating thing, even he'd barely paid off his trainee loans by the time he left, so money was an issue for him as well. He followed the boy to the living room, and his smile returned at the mention of the dance that his group had done, and he nodded. "Yeah, it's a really fun dance. A little challenging though." He hesitated, then laughed a bit. "You honestly might be better at dancing than me too." He joked lightly, though he was only half joking. "Hopefully I remember it all."

Tai was bouncing on the balls of his feet lightly by the time he got to the dance area. He said very solemnly, "My dance teacher says that I always have to warm up first, even if I danced not that long earlier, because it's bad if muscles get stiff."
He went over to the sound system with an old iPod attached to it, and fiddled with it for a moment, then he looked over at Kangwan and said, "Hyung, do you have any music you really like to warm up to? I like hearing different dance music."
He looked at Kangwan hopefully and added, "If you have a music player we can attach it to the speakers."

Kangwan nodded, "Yep, it's very important to warm up first! I once pulled a muscle in my leg when I didn't have time to warm up," he began explaining, muttering under his breath "because I wanted more sleep" before adding louder, "It's not like breaking a leg, or anything like that, but it can still be very painful." He told the honestly.
He nodded, pulling out his phone and going to his favorite song to listen to in the morning. It was a bit slow for dancing to, but he found out a long time ago it was perfect for warming up to, because it was a slow tempo that still kept it easy to count beats. "Honestly, this song may be a bit old for you, but maybe your uncles have heard it." He said, slightly muttering, as he plugged in his phone to the speaker jack.

Tai smiled when the music started and said, clearly pleased, "I've not heard this before, but it's a good warm up music. You should show me what you normally do for warm ups, I wanna know if it's different from my dance teacher."
Tai started warming himself up, putting him somewhere he could face Kangwan so that he could see Kangwan's warm up routine. With Tai's childish flexibility alongside the dance training he'd already been doing, it didn't take him long in his warm up to end up in the splits, carefully hyperextending them in each direction to press the edges of his flexibility so that when he did high flexibility moves it wouldn't hurt.

Kangwan smiled and nodded. He took a moment to remember what his warm up routine even was before nodding to himself and explaining each stretch to Taijia. Once the song was over, he smiled, "There, short but effective stretches." He said with a grin.

Tai watched Kangwan carefully, adding a few of the stretches that he didn't already do into his own routine at least to try them. A few of them didn't seem to do much, and he was pretty sure that they only worked for people who were less flexible or something. He smiled when Kangwan said that he was ready and said, "OK hyung, I'm ready too, can you show me the dance to Uncle Hwanie's song?"
He was a little bit fidgety with excitement, but he didn't want to show it too much, since he wanted Kangwan to think that he was doing a good job. It was cool getting to see an older kid, one who was doing this sort of dancing for real, and get to learn the dance from him.

"Wow, you're flexible." Kangwan praised with a small chuckle. He figured he was probably flexible at one point, but now he was something of an enigma, young boy in an old body. Part of that is probably depression. His mind told him simply.
He blinked a couple times, not really remembering just what song the boy was talking about. "Oh! Yeah, sure!" He said finally, looking for the song on his phone. "Can't believe I forgot already." He said with a laugh. He started the song and got into position, glad for the long intro in this particular song to give him the opportunity to get into position. "Let me just go through it myself first, to make sure I remember it. You can watch, then after I'll teach you it, okay?" He said with a somewhat embarrassed laugh. He hadn't focused on one song's dance in a while though, and he was never really the one to be breaking it down into smaller sections, so this was something new for him. He went through the dance once before feeling more confident about teaching it to Taijia. "Okay. Are you ready?" He asked with a grin. Dancing was always something he wasn't very good at, but really enjoyed regardless.

Taijia nodded and said, "My dance teacher says that I am very flexible even for my age, but I've been practicing so that I'll stay that way and maybe even be able to be better at it."
When Kangwan started dancing Taijia watched carefully, mimicking the movements as they happened, already pretty good at reversing moves from seeing them from the wrong side. He wrinkled his forehead in concentration, wanting to get as much as he could off the first watch through. The chorus wasn't too bad, he knew a lot of individual elements from it from other things already, and he was pretty sure he had some of the other parts down ok, but he definitely would need to go through it with Kangwan several times to get the hang of it.
When Kangwan stopped, he clapped and said, "I think that I got part of that!"
He showed what he'd caught of the chorus, hoping to sort of impress Kangwan but also because he was excited.

"That's good," Kangwan agreed. He remembered being a lot more flexible at Taijia's age, but as the focus became more on actual dances and less on flexibility, he lost the ability to stretch as well as he used to. "Your teachers sounds like a good teacher. I hope you can keep practicing with him for a long time." He said with a smile.
He did the dance and once finished, caught his breath before looking to Taijia. "Yeah? You really must be good." He praised with a small chuckle. "You wanna go through it slowly now?" He asked. "Or," He began, realizing he was still catching his breath, "You can also show me the part you think you got, if you want to?" He offered, hoping the boy would take the latter option.
