Wooram was excited for the planning week at his new school and getting to meet other teachers and get comfortable in what was hopefully going to be his work environment for the next few years. He'd mostly met with the principal and assistant principal and the rest of the fifth grade team so far, and he liked the environment at the school. It was very welcoming, and no one was weird about the small bits of rainbow decoration that he'd added to his room or about the fact that his medical alert bracelet sometimes was visible or his rainbow bracelet. Considering one of the other fifth grade teachers had bright purple hair and at least one visible tattoo though, he felt like he didn't come off as outrageous here the way that he sometimes had up in Bellingham or in Friday Harbor.
A program that the assistant principal had mentioned to the fifth grade team was the idea of reading buddies, where the fifth graders got to have a mentor student role with the kindergarteners and read to them and generally help them get used to being in elementary school now. Wooram had been excited for the idea. It seemed like something that would be good for a lot of fifth graders, and it would give him a chance to get to know other grade level teams a little bit. He was a little bit nervous now that he actually was going to meet the kindergarten teacher that he'd been paired up with to have their classes be reading buddies.
He'd not been down to the end of the school where the kindergarten classes were much yet, but fortunately, classrooms were clearly labeled, and down at this end of the school, most of the classrooms were a riot of color. It was something that Wooram enjoyed about the lower grades, even if he definitively preferred teaching fourth or fifth. He found Adriel's room readily enough, not sure if this was a teacher that he'd actually met in the staff room yet or not, or even seen in passing.
He knocked lightly on the doorframe, peeking into the room to see if he could spot the other teacher and saying a cheerful, "Hi, I'm Wooram, the fifth grade teacher here to talk about planning for reading buddies?"
