((TW: suicide and self-harm mention))
Face Claim: Soonyoung Kwon
Sparrow stands at 5'10" (178cm) and weighs about 135 lbs (61kg). He has dark brown eyes. His naturally black hair has seen a myriad of colors throughout the years, starting when he turned 18 and dyed it blond for the first time.It currently rests at blond with a hint of blue - remnants from his last hair dye adventure. He keeps it short but shaggy, usually never long enough to do more than put it into a silly-looking top-of-the-head ponytail. He has a good build, mainly from wrangling/taking care of dogs all day. He has three piercings in his left ear, and five in his right ear, and he also a rainbow semi-colon tattoo on his right wrist.
Sparrow is a unqiue kid. He is still battling with depression, but is proudly clean from self-harm since 2015. He is easily excitable and loves everyone (unless they are mean to him first). On the other hand, he doesn't forgive wrongdoings easily and holds a grudge mighty well. He absolutely loves animals, and often would talk about having multiple animals as he was growing up, and sure enough, he co-ran an animal shelter for a few years.
He likes animals, reading, listening to music, watching tv, relaxing, and hanging out/going out to eat with friends. He loves meeting other Australians. He loves his family, and puppies, and kittens, but really all animals.
He dislikes caffeine as it makes him crash rather than get him hyper, but his friends and family have joked it's because he's hyper enough without it. Still, he'll occasionally eat chocolate (and less often will drink herbal teas). He loves the smell of coffees and teas, though. He doesn't like being too far away from his family, one time he went with the shelter staff to pick up a pit bull in Spokane and had an unexpected panic attack (though with the gentleness of the dog while he was suffering from it, she found a forever home with him). So even though he no longer lives with his family, they are not far away from him. He dislikes his scars, but they tell a story he can't verbalize.
His weakness is pictures of his mom. His dad either destroyed or hid the documents he had found initially that caused his memories to come back, so those aren't brought to the surface anymore, but the pictures are still hard to look at. He also is weak towards alcohol, but he's fine with it - being around it and drinking it - as long as he's not in a depressive episode. He also is weak towards animals, but that's a different kind of weakness. He's also prone to anxiety attacks if he travels far away from his family.
His strengths are his unwavering loyalty and love for the people he truly cares about. Some of the staff at the shelter used to joked he probably likes dogs so much because he practically is one. Despite his grades in school (pretty average to low), he actually is pretty smart, he just wasn't very interested in school.
His fears are blood, really bad depression, and losing another family member. He is also afraid of emus, because one bit him on a field trip in elementary school. Americans seem to laugh at him for this.
As long as he's surrounded by people he loves, he feels he is living his aspiration.

Sparrow was born on the day of the Winter Solstice, a few minutes after his twin brother to a young Korean couple living in Melbourne, Australia. Although his parents were also born in Australia, since they lived in Koreatown, the twins grew up speaking both Korean and English.
When the twins were four, Sparrow was home alone with his mom while his brother and dad were out. He had been playing in his room until he got hungry, and went to find his mom. He found her with her wrists cut open. Sparrow didn't understand what was happening, and so he tried to wake her up. When she wouldn't wake, he eventually curled up against her and stayed there until his dad and brother got home. He was yanked off his mother and his dad seemed frantic, which ended up scaring the twins and causing both of them to cry. As the paramedics came and went, and his dad cleaned him up with shaky hands, Sparrow was still upset (and hungry). As their mother didn't come home, it started to sink in that she was gone forever.
For a while, Sparrow forgot he was present when they lost their mother. The twins started school, and they had a new problem to deal with: being around so many other Koreans, the kids at school knew the twins had slightly ridiculous names, with Sparrow bird-dragon bird, and Saehwan only getting a slight break, but still essentially being "bird bird bird." They were called names and teased, but they usually protected each other and hid away in various parts of the school to avoid their tormentors.
At the beginning of high school, the family was told they'd be moving - their dad was accepted to teach at the University of Washington, full time, and they'd sponsor him and his family for their visas, and eventually, citizenship. It was as they were packing for the move that Sparrow came across some old documents about their mother, and the memories came flooding back to him. For a while, his brother and dad didn't know what was wrong with him. When his dad finally forced him to talk, Sparrow told him he remembered everything and was consequently freaking the heck out.
As the move continued, Sparrow fell deeper and deeper into his memories, waking up constantly from nightmares and beginning to drink and cut to try to relieve try to the memories. After they had settled, getting worried he'd lose his son the same way he lost his wife, Sparrow's dad forced him into therapy (well, all three of them went to therapy, but Sparrow was first), and though it took a few years before it truly helped, Sparrow's been clean from self-harm since his high school graduation. Something that helped was Sparrow finally making a best friend that wasn't also his twin brother; he met Cappie at the beginning of senior year and the fellow Aussie's cheerful demeanor helped to remind him there was good in the world. Near the time of their graduation, after a return bout of depression, Sparrow told him what had happened with his mother, and explained that was why his depression had begun in the first place.
Besides his brother, Cappie was the first person he came out to, very nervous it would change the other boy's opinion about him and he'd end up losing his best friend. Thankfully, that didn't happen. He came out to his dad soon after. After they graduated, Cappie told him about wanting to make some shelter for animals, and Sparrow was 100% behind it. Together, they opened Almost Home Cedar Beach Animal Shelter. Sparrow also chose to move out to share a place with his best friend. Although he invited Saehwan along, his twin declined, opting to stay at home for now. He missed having his brother around 24/7, but they still would meet up often and talk on the phone or message each other at least once a day.
When Cappie started dating, and prioritizing his girlfriend over Sparrow and the shelter, Sparrow eventually got to the end of his rope and decided to quit, transferring the lease for the shelter, and taking his name off the home lease. He now is living with his brother, and is much happier. After floundering for a while about what to do now that he wasn't working at the shelter, he eventually decided to go back to school, and starting in August 2021, is studying to become an elementary school teacher (specifically kindergarten).
