Kit thought it over a moment before shaking his head. "Not really... Something with strawberry in it sounds good right now." He responded. "You?"
He was glad to have cash at that moment, because that meant they could leave faster. He put down his half of the check and tip, and scooped his food into the to-go box, and stood up. "Shall we go, then?" He asked Devi. He hoped the change of scenery would stop his queasy stomach, and if not that, then dessert.

Devi also contemplated for a moment, tentatively linking his hand with Kit's as they left the restaurant. He said, "I like ginger or lemon, but most fruit is good in cheesecake. If they have the little individual ones, though, we don't have to get the same flavor unless we want to."
He smiled just slightly down at Kit, glad at that moment that they'd ended up not that far apart in height, even if Devi was still taller than Kit. He hoped that Kit could get the feeling of the sincere interest in trying to see where this went that he was feeling. He hoped that he was right that maybe this had the chance to be a long term thing. He did like Kit a lot as a person.
He asked, "Do you want to drive across the street to Central or just walk across, get our cheesecake, and then walk back for the car?"
The car would give them more privacy, but they'd have that once they made it to the waterfront. He wondered where that would go for them this evening, but he had no real way of guessing.

Kit glanced down at their hands, squeezing Devi's hand a moment. He liked this. He was somewhat surprised the first time he had seen Devi again, because he hadn't expected they'd be so close in height. Kit had started growing before he left, but it apparently wasn't as noticeable before he left for a while. He was taken out of his thoughts as Devi spoke. "Um... Let's walk over, then we'll only have to fight for parking at one other place." He was hesitant but excited about what could happen at the waterfront, though if they actually kept the pace slow then he really had nothing to be excited about, besides the obvious of getting to spend more time with Devi.

Devi enjoyed the feeling of walking beside Kit, smiling and nodding when Kit said to just walk over there. He tapped the crossing signal so that it would let them know when it was safe to cross, and glanced over at Kit. He seemed antsy, nervous, like he wasn't quite sure how to hold himself, and Devi wondered if he should feel anxious about it too.
He didn't though, not now that they'd had the initial exchange. Wherever this went, it was built on this comfort and friendship that they had between them. It felt nice to hold hands with Kit, and that was a good start. Kit wasn't someone new who he felt like he needed to be careful with his difficulty with speaking around: Kit would wait for him when he spoke slowly, and didn't mind when he stuttered or stumbled over words. He knew that they had a lot in common, shared interests, shared history.
He glanced over at Kit again, smiling at him warmly before the light changed, and they were able to cross. The store wasn't far once they crossed the street, basically just across a big parking lot.

Kit glanced at Devi in time to see the older man was smiling at him, and he felt like he might be blushing again. He reciprocated with a quick smile before the light changed and they could cross the street, and then he focused on the road rather than Devi. As they approached the store, he instead focused on the type of cheesecake he would get. He had said strawberry, but he was thinking maybe something slightly more tart than that. Blackberry? He'd have to see what they had, maybe something else entirely would catch his eye due to presentation or unexpected flavors.

Devi didn't say much more until they'd actually made it all the way into the store and found their way over to the little section with cakes and its relatively prominent display of little cheesecakes. There was one that caught his eye in the section that was mainly for two people to share, and he nudged Kit gently and pointed it out, "Does raspberry and lemon sound good to you? We could share."
He figured that he'd find something small that he liked well enough if that didn't appeal to Kit, but he liked the idea of sharing. He was happy about all of this, and it felt appropriately symbolic to share something. Mostly though, he wanted to get over to the beach and just be alone with Kit for a while. That sounded the most nice.
He gave Kit a little smile, hoping that Kit would understand that train of thought well enough.

Kit looked at the cake Devi was pointing to and nodded, going ahead and ordering it for them so Devi didn't have to. He stepped back as the server prepared it for them. "You kind of read my mind, I think." He said softly to Devi, "I was just thinking about how I was probably craving something more tart than sweet at the moment." He returned the smile to Devi, but his attention was shifted as the server handed over the piece of cake. He thanked the server and went ahead and paid, teasingly turning to Devi after and nudging the older man's side, "you owe me a coffee or something." He said teasingly, wrapping his arm around Devi's and beginning to head back out. "To the beach?" He asked with a smile.

Devi just smiled and nodded when Kit said that he owed him a coffee or something. He figured it would even out somewhere. He took the slice of cheese cake so that he could hold it on the drive over to the beach. It wasn't a long drive, and Devi was quiet and thoughtful as they went down the windy road. There were some nice spots to go sit even though it was late, and he was excited, he decided.
Once they got there and parked, Devi spotted a bench not too far from the parking lot looking out towards the water. He pointed to it, nudging Kit's shoulder with his own and said, "That looks like a good spot. Not too close, but not too far, and a good view."
He tangled their fingers together again and waited for Kit's response to start heading to the bench.

Kit let the drive to the beach be quiet, the silence broken only by his music, which was still playing with the volume low in case Devi or he found something to talk about.
As he parked, he looked at the bench Devi pointed out and gave him a smile and nod. "Agreed." He said. He looked down at their hands and gave Devi's hand a small squeeze before heading towards the bench, pulling Devi with him as he walked. "It's gorgeous here right now." He mused.

Devi smiled at Kit fondly as he trailed behind him, carrying the cheesecake. Once they reached the bench, he sat and opened up the carry away box for the cheesecake, realizing that it came with only one fork. He smiled and held up the fork for Kit and said, "Well, looks like we'll really be sharing it."
He looked out at the water and nodded, "Really beautiful."
It was nice to just be out here with Kit, peaceful. Devi realized that he should probably make sure that Kit knew that, and he said tentatively, "I'm happy to be out here with you. It's nice."
