Devi is very focused on what is important to him in life: dance and his friends. He and a bunch of his friends from high school started Driftwood Dance Crew, which is a ranked Bboy group that goes to international competitions, but Devi also does a lot of other styles of dance, and he especially enjoys teaching dance. He also does drag, and he performs fairly regularly at Driftwood Dance Club (the club that was started several years ago now by some of the members of their crew, thus the same name thing going on). He goes to Cambodia (where his family is from) at least once ever few years as a part of a few volunteer organizations, mostly around using dance as an activity to help form safe helpful communities for a lot of at risk kids (especially queer kids). He's used this as a way to form his own connection with his heritage unrelated to his issues with his grandparents (and to a much lesser degree parents).
He has some learning disabilities that made him really struggle with school, but bit by bit since he graduated high school, he spent several years working on getting an AA in early childhood education at Cedar Beach Community College, and after earning it sometime in early 2021, he is now working as a Kindergarten language and classroom support paraeducator at Cedar Beach Elementary School. He also has several speech impediments that cause him to talk pretty slowly, though he's perfectly understandable.
He's a little bit shy and slow to make friends outside of dance related settings, but in his safe settings, he can become close caring friends with someone pretty quickly.
Threads I Am Interested in for Devi:
- Siblings! See want ad above
- Dance buddies
- Dance! in general (students, competitors, etc)
- Drag buddies! (or like someone new on the scene or something)
- Coworkers at school: Devi is really shy, but that's part of what could make it fun
