"Ok." She replied in response to his offer to show her around and introduce her to the others.
Misuk found the switch in Thomas curious, mostly because it was unfamiliar to her. She debated teasing him, but decided against it as he asked how she was doing. Once Taehoon and Josh left, she gave Thomas a weak smile, "I think I'm doing okay. I'm kind of heartbroken I'll need to leave the fandom spaces I've worked so hard to build up, but I totally understand why. I'm happy to not be in a dead-end job anymore, speaking of." She cut herself off and pulled out her phone, sending the simplest quitting notice email she's ever sent, Dear manager-nim, I'm quitting effective immediately. I would like my paycheck sent in the mail, please. Sincerely, Kim Misuk "Officially quit that job." She waved a hand as if saying that job was behind her now. "I am suddenly faced with imposter syndrome, and feel highly under qualified, but hopefully that will subside. I just hope I can prove myself well to the CEO, and can keep this job." She laughed a bit, shaking her head, "As you can see, I'm all over the place. This whole day has been a lot, and I'm going to be quite upset if I don't sleep like the dead tonight."

Thomas tried to be comforting as he told her, "I wouldn't have suggested you for the job if I didn't think you'd be good at it. You're good at organizing and managing people, and you know about fans."
Thomas continued, "Man, so often I've wanted to ask you things about dealing with a Yuseong situation involving fans and fan perception. It's going to be be a whole thing to reteach myself that I can ask you. I'm really glad you were interested. I also think it's going to be especially good for the girls to have you. Like, remember the time I had to message you to figure out where I could buy certain supplies, I felt silly about it, but their main manager is one of Yuseong's old assistant managers. You're going to find yourself doing bits of all sorts of manager tasks even if it's mostly PR and social media."
He sighed, "A big part of the reason I suddenly changed course just there is that I wanted to give Josh-hyung and Taehoon-hyung some space to deal with Sihyeon-ssi, and I felt like us being there would make that harder. J.B.N. and the boys will like you well enough, hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Hayun at least kind of knows you or at least of you, she went to Yuseong events when she was still a fan."
He realized he was rambling, and he started pointing things out to her around the building, orienting her to what was where and the different dorms. He said, "We'll probably find folks in the practice spaces on the next floor down. Is there anything you want to ask before we go down there?"

Misuk seemed to relax a bit, and she smiled to Thomas, "thank you. That helps a bit." She smiled wider and laughed at the memory, "Oh yeah! I was curious what was going on that day, but I figured it had something to do with the girls." She paused, "Are there any other female managers? And do you get reimbursed for your time doing things that aren't technically part of your job?"
She nodded, "It makes sense you wanted to give them a chance to talk in private. I hope it doesn't become too awkward, though..."
She thought a moment if she knew Hayun. She vaguely recalled someone mentioning they used to ice skate, and that they were leaving because they started training. But also, she'd be lying if she said that it was only one time someone left the forum or the group chat because they got into a company. "She does look a bit familiar, but maybe she'll recognize me. I don't think I've posted a selca on the forum since I was like, 15 though."
She thought a moment and then shook her head, "no, I don't think so. Is there anything you think I should know about any of the J.B.N. girls or the boy trainees?" She asked thoughtfully.

Thomas laughed sheepishly and said, "Anya needed someone to get her supplies because it was her first time having her period, and she was less embarrassed talking to me about it than the other managers. I guess none of the other girls had what she needed. I mean, I've also known Anya for years, but I think it would have been less confusing for everyone if there had been a female manager for her to ask. I know she talked to Shieon, but for whatever reason, none of the other girls had what she needed available."
He continued, "The only other female employee who isn't a JBN member is the dance trainer who works with the company part time, but she's not around super often, especially since Taehoon-hyung, Seojin, and Tai run most of the dance trainings."
He nodded to her question about pay and said, "Yeah, I can turn in receipts, and I've got a company card, you'll probably get one too. Josh-hyung and Seojin have company cards too as leaders, so I suspect Seoji will get one in the not too distant future since he's the boys leader. I have a base number of hours a month, and then track any extra time and get paid more for that."
Thomas sighed and said, "Taehoon-hyung is good at managing Sihyeon-ssi, but I know that this is something that Sihyeon-ssi can be weird about sometimes. And he's still not sure what he thinks about me."
He contemplated what she should know. He said, "I feel like you know the basics of Yuseong. And like, they aren't exactly like they are as idols, but you've got the right idea, and I think that you learned the big things that are different from what the public knows already today."
He paused again and said, "For the girls, Hayun doesn't like talking about figure skating and why she stopped much if she can avoid it. And she really hates having attention drawn to her scars. She's got a fair amount of anxiety in general, but she's talked about her mental health struggles some to fans. Seojin is generally really good at handling them as a leader. Anya is so young, and she sometimes struggles more with Korean than she lets on but that's getting easier. Hayun and Shieon are super close. Elena is probably the one that can use your help the most, I think she maybe has the most culture shock of the girls, and she's very touchy, and as she puts it un-Korean in her mannerisms, she's gotten in a little trouble with the boss a few times. The girls are mostly pretty easy though."
He thought over the boys and said, "My perspective on the boys is a little odd, like Tai is basically my eventual stepbrother? step-nephew? My older brother, who technically adopted me when our parents passed away, is engaged to his uncle who has been his guardian since he was three when his mom died. But I've actually known Tai and his uncles longer than my brother has because Tai's uncle Yunjin was my and Kangwan's homeroom teacher in high school, and I was one of Tai's other babysitters back then."
He thought over the rest of the boys, "Seoji is a good kid, struggles with english and with not talking in dialect. He's going to be a good leader, but he's nervous about it right now. Felix is still getting settled in Korean, but he's been improving fast. Meri has some major anxiety, but he and Tai are super attached at the hip, and they seem to make things better for each other. You'll get the chance to get to know them better before debut, and I bet you'll be curating a lot of their predebut content, which is great because I think you can point them in the direction of what fans will want to see."
He mulled it over for a moment longer and then added, "Tai's the trainee who you'll probably have the most work with at first because he composes and produces and choreographs for Yuseong and JBN. He's showing up already in a lot of behind the scenes stuff, and the company does want to show him off. I'm guessing you watched the training camp at least some, but it probably gives a decent idea of why."
He gave her a little lopsided grin and said, "And the training rooms are right around the corner. Any questions about all that before I go introduce you to them if they're around?"

Misuk was fascinated none of the other girls had what was needed for a period. She always carried emergency supplies with her. She supposed having an idol schedule could do that, though. "Poor girl, I could only imagine the youngest manager would be the most comfortable to ask about it." She mused.
She was a little surprised by how much the company kept track of things like overtime, but she had done her research, and knew Dreams was a good company, like actually. In all the time she had been supporting Yuseong, she never felt like the company was only in it for the money, and the majority of the time, at least according to Yuseong, they actually listened to their idols, which she fully supported. How they handled Kangwan's hiatus really sealed the deal on liking the company, and now she'd get all the trade secrets and wouldn't be able to tell any of her friends.
She giggled at Thomas mentioning how Anya was so young. "My little brother will freak. out. that I'm going to meet and work with Anya. He's about three years younger than her and just adores her. She's a cute kid though." She paused, "Are there things to look out for for when Hayun may be experiencing too much anxiety?" She made a mental note about Elena's mannerisms. She had seen some J.B.N. things when her brother would watch their stuff, and felt she had at least a somewhat good idea of what to expect from Elena.
She nodded, "I could see how that would make it complicated to explain Tai. And I remember both you and Tai showing up in the occasional Instagram posts from Kangwan. You had a couple other friends that were often in them, and Kangwan was always so careful to sit completely opposite them because they were girls." She thought a moment about what had been popular lately. "TikTok has really taken off since the pandemic, I may request permission to make a trainees account and they can promote there." She mused aloud, writing it down on her phone. She looked at the training room door and took a breath, "I think I got all my questions out." She said, straightening her posture.

Thomas nodded and said, "You should definitely suggest stuff like that. I suspect that all three of the main managers are going to be grateful to have you taking social media off their hands. Like, Yuseong mostly manages a lot of their own posting, but JBN and the trainees definitely don't yet. Some of them are more interested in being involved with it than others. The most I have to handle it is proofreading posts for Taehoon-hyung sometimes."
He paused and said, "Oh, that's one I don't know how much you would know about. Taehoon-hyung is dyslexic, which I'm pretty sure he's talked about. He reads super slowly, and prefers to have people check anything he's written he's going to post publicly. Practically it just means that often enough he dictates things to me if I'm there. Also other people read instructions aloud and stuff. You really only need to tell him things like schedules or game rules on shows and stuff once though."
Thomas smiled at the mention of their friends, "Yeah, Inkar and Liz, they were also part of Tai's babysitter cast, and we all studied together. I'm probably in closer touch with them these days than Kangwan, but we're all still friends. The three of them were in all their math classes together, though Inkar was the year behind us, and Liz was the year behind her. They're both probably going to be going to the Olympics in the next few years, Inkar for track for Kazakhstan, though she's half Korean, and Liz for figure skating for Mongolia. So like, that connection might come up again and be a thing you have to deal with."
He smiled and added, "When I was first interacting with you, you reminded me so much of Inkar it was easier to get comfortable talking to you. She spent the summer before I came here helping me practice my Korean a bunch, like Tai and Yunjin-ge and Hwangjung-hyung helped a ton too."
Thinking over her other questions, he added, "When Hayun is anxious she gets clinger with the JBN members, especially Shieon, and she gets quieter and head goes down and she often looks like she's trying to shrink. The body language is pretty obvious."
He poked his head into the main dance studio, sort of relieved to see the boys there. They were on a break from whatever they were practicing, and apparently had not been listening to Taehoon's radio show because they were relaxed. Thomas opened the door fully, leading Misuk in and the boys immediately gathered around, looking kind of baffled. Thomas smiled and said, "This is Kim Misuk, our new PR and Social Media Manager, she's probably going to be working with you on predebut posting and stuff, we're still figuring out exactly what, but she was just hired so I'm getting her shown around. Misuk-noona, these are Seoji, Felix, Meri, and Tai."
Seoji bowed and said, possibly a touch too formal but trying his best to be leader, "Nice to meet you Misuk-ssi, we look forward to working with you."
Tai hung back a little, clearly a little nervous with a new adult, and Thomas suspected that Tai could read that he was nervous. He wanted to give Taehoon the chance to be the one to tell Tai what happened if he wanted to though.
He looked over to Misuk, checking to see how she responded to the boys.

Misuk was trying to make sure she kept running notes of the things she was learning. She was overwhelmed, and wanted the chance to go over this stuff again. She paused for a moment at learning Taehoon had dyslexia. "That... Makes sense..." She said slowly, thinking back on some of the signs that happened when Yuseong was on shows. He had been pretty good at hiding it, though. "It may give him some comfort that, as his self-assigned biggest fan, I could hardly notice. I figured something might be up, but I couldn't ever pinpoint what it might be." She said, mostly joking about the "biggest fan" comment.
She took another breath before Thomas opened the door, seeing the boys resting. They were possibly doing a group dance practice, maybe in preparation for a cover. She knew they had done one or two as a group, and many more in pairs or solo, especially Taijia. She didn't follow them a ton, but Taijia had been working with Taehoon and she had gotten to know his face better, and realized that a lot of the dance covers on the company YouTube was him. She smiled at the boys, giving Seoji a polite bow. She tried to keep track of which name belonged to which member. Felix was easy, because he looked mixed and had the same name as a group that was already debuted, and noted that Meri and Tai stuck close together. She was pretty sure she'd seen about an even mix of dance covers with Taijia and Felix and Taijia and Meri, so she assumed they were best friends. "It's nice to meet you all; I look forward to working with you as well." She finally said.
Under her breath so that hopefully only Thomas could hear, she said, "They're so cute." She had watched the training camp (because Taehoon was one of the trainers), and somewhat recognized all the boys except for Meri, who she only knew joined at some point after the training camp. She wasn't sure how long it was between him joining and him starting to show up in clips from the trainees.
She realized she was now going to be in charge of those clips and other social media. She looked at the boys, and spoke so all of them could hear her. "Oh, um. As the new social media manager, I wanted to see if there was interest in making a trainees a TikTok. I need to discuss with the CEO still, but I don't know why he wouldn't approve of more attention given to you guys. But that way, you guys can do challenges and stuff. We can start with you and J.B.N. and Yuseong doing challenges together to advertise the new account." She was hesitant to add Yuseong to that suggestion based on today's events, but didn't want the boys to worry something was up. With Thomas not mentioning anything, she assumed he wanted Taehoon to be able to tell the boys himself, so she also pretended like everything was normal, even though her chest ached slightly at the thought that everything could change from here on out. Even if he wasn't kicked out of the company, what if he was blacklisted like Hong Seokcheon* had been? Part of her nervousness centered around not fucking up the company statement so that Taehoon could continue in the entertainment industry.
((For reader's who don't know, Hong Seok Cheon came out on air in 2000, and was blacklisted from the entertainment industry and fired from his company.))

Tai responded to her first, voice quiet but fairly composed, "That makes sense, we post covers to YouTube already, and I post challenges with Taehoon-hyung and Seojin-noona sometimes. Now that JBN is debuted though, I know we need to keep us fresh for people."
Thomas asked, "Were you working on a cover right now?"
Tai nodded, "We're learning Kep1er's Wa Da Da, it came out yesterday, but I saw it when I performed with hyung, and it seemed like it would be fun and it's popular right now, and it's something Seoji-hyung is good at."
Thomas smiled at Tai and said, "We'll let you get back to practicing. Do you know where the girls are?"
Seoji replied, "I haven't seen Seojin-noona or Elena around, but Hayun and Shieon-noona were working on something in one of the vocal studios."
Tai added, "Anya's finishing something for school in the dorm."
Thomas glanced over at Misuk and said, "Unless you want to stay and watch where they are in their practice for a bit, we can go find the girls."

"Excellent, I'll be sure to ask the CEO about the accounts you already have and what to add." She replied to Taijia. She kept her voice low, matching Taijia's, noticing the boy seemed nervous. Felix and Meri also seemed nervous, she assumed for very different reasons, as Felix was still learning Korean, and Meri seemed just as shy as Taijia.
"How fun!" Misuk muttered in response tot he boy working on the Kep1er cover. "I'm fine finding and meeting the girls." She told Thomas.

Thomas was relieved that the initial meeting with the boys went smoothly. They were all varying degrees of shy and awkward, but he figured that they would warm up to Misuk quickly enough. Once they were back out in the hall and he heard the music start back up faintly, he told Misuk, "Sorry Misuk-noona, it should have occurred to me before we were in the room, but if they haven't already heard what was going on, I'm going to wait and let Taehoon-hyung tell them himself. He's pretty close to all the trainees and J.B.N. honestly, he does a lot of work on their choreo, and he runs their dance trainings occasionally. I know he's posted about it on social media some, but he really likes mentoring people, and it's been his first chance to have juniors at the company to work with. He's closest to Tai and Seojin probably."
He showed her the way to the vocal studios, most quite small. Fortunately, it was immediately obvious where Hayun and Shieon were, and he knocked to warn them, then came in. He smiled and said, "Hayun, Shieon, I won't interrupt your practice too long, but we just hired a PR and Social Media Manager, and I'm showing her around and making sure that she meets people. This is Kim Misuk. Misuk-noona, these are J.B.N.'s Eon, Ah Shieon, and An Hayun. Shieon is the eldest member and main rapper. Hayun is main vocal, and she's about to graduate high school, so that's actually something you'll probably get to social media manage for, like high school graduation vlog and pictures. Seoji and Felix will be graduating at the same time, but I don't know if as much emphasis will be put on for trainees."
Hayun's eyes went a little bit wide and she said softly, "Hi Misuk-noona."
She whispered to Thomas, not quite as quietly as she might have meant to because she was anxious, "Thomas-oppa, she ran like the best fansite for Tahoon-oppa for a long time."
Thomas chuckled and he responded reassuringly, "It's OK Hayun, it's not a secret, and it was a factor in her getting hired actually. I've known Misuk-noona for a while too."

"Yeah, Taehoon-oppa was very excited when he got to start mentoring. I suspect even more than he let on to fans. He loves his hoobaes." Misuk affirmed softly. It had been really endearing to watch Taehoon mentor the trainees during the Training Camp days.
She bowed as she met the two girls, giving them a smile, "Hello, nice to meet you." She said. She kept her smile at Hayun's words. "Or, meet you in person, for you, I suppose." She said to Hayun, an air of teasing in her voice.
Shieon giggled at the exchange, and also greeted Misuk, "Hi, nice to meet you. I look forward to working with you."

Hayun smiled and said, "I've met you in person before actually, Misuk-unnie, I went to some fan events that you organized before I auditioned. I was a little shorter at the time though."
Thomas told them, "We won't keep you long. Misuk-noona will be working with you some on social media stuff soon though, and I'm trying to make sure she knows her way around and has met most of you. Tai said he thought Anya was in the dorm. Are Seojin and Elena around?"
Hayun shook her head and said, "They went out somewhere. I don't think it was a schedule. And yes, Anya's working on something for school."
Thomas nodded and looked to Misuk to see if she wanted to add anything before they headed onward to find Anya. Seojin and Elena would have to wait for another day unless they appeared. He was pretty much expecting a text or call from Josh any moment at this point.
He asked Misuk, "Ready to head up to where the dorms are?"

Misuk felt her face heat up a bit, and she tried to play it off with a laugh, "Oh, sorry. If you've grown a bit, I'll definitely blame that." She told Hayun.
"It wasn't a schedule, they had some free time and so decided to go have fun together." Shieon confirmed.
Misuk nodded and muttered, "fair enough."
She nodded to Thomas, "Let's go." She paused a moment before adding, "I think I'll need another tour when everything isn't so overwhelming." She told him honestly, keeping her voice low so the girls hopefully wouldn't hear it.

Thomas showed Misuk the way to the dorms and said, "Don't worry, I'm pretty sure that the CEO is putting me on getting you oriented duty because I on some level made more work for him. You'll learn your way around pretty quickly, but I'm happy to remind you where things are until you do."
He sighed and said as they walked, "The CEO had been fussing a while ago that there were slightly too many shipping rumors with Seojin and Elena, and it's pretty much resolved since they do things with other members more out now too, but that's probably something that will come up for you."
He didn't tell Misuk his speculation that there was almost no one straight in the company, considering most of them hadn't actually directly told him, but it was a weird thing to be mulling over right then.
He knocked on the dorm door before letting himself in, looking around for Anya and calling out, "Hi Anya, it's Thomas, I've got a new PR and Social Media Manager to introduce you to."

Misuk nodded, taking note of that on her ever-growing list of things to know about the company and people working there. She would want to talk with Elena and Seojin and get their viewpoints, preferably before a scandal. "Noted." She told Thomas.
Anya had been working in her room on some school work. School wasn't hard for her anymore, but it still felt tedious. She had been debating quitting school now that she was debuted, but everyone she had talked to about it told her no, including her guardians both in the country and back in Washington. She heard Thomas' voice and went out to the living room. "Oh! Hello, nice to meet you, I'm Anya." She said, smiling to the woman in front of her.
"I'm Misuk, it's nice to meet you too." Misuk replied, smiling back. She resisted the urge to comment something about her brother. If it was true she was likely to do a lot of manager-related activities for the girls, she'd have plenty of time to get something special for her little brother.
"Is there anything I should tell you?" Anya thought aloud for a moment before frowning slightly and adding, "Oh, Taijia and I are childhood friends, please don't let media make it weird. They've already tried once. We literally don't see each other as anything but friends. He may be practically a sibling at this point more than a romantic interest."
Misuk nodded, but didn't write it in her notes. She already knew this - Seokjin had been devastated when the rumor came out, and then possibly cried more with relief when Anya and Taijia told media they were just best friends and grew up together. "I will make sure the media doesn't make it weird." She promised. "Or at least do my best."
"Thank you." Anya said, sighing in relief.
