Kangwan looked over the stage one more time. He was excited for the girls, they were finally getting to debut after the pandemic kept pushing it back. To play it safe, the company had decided to make it an online showcase, but they were still getting their showcase and after this, J.B.N. was officially debuted and Dreams Entertainment would have their second group. According to the social media monitor, people were already tuning in, despite the show not starting for another fifteen minutes. It had been heavily advertised, so Kangwan wasn't super surprised when the monitor said there was already about 100 people waiting for it to start, chatting idly in the comment while they waited, but it was nice to know his hoobaes were getting well-deserved attention, even if some of the people in the comment flat out said they were only there because he and Josh were hosting. He went to the dressing room, about to knock on the door when he noticed it was already open, and the CEO was standing just to the side of the door. He gave the CEO a polite bow as he entered. "Ah, Kangwan, glad to see you're ready. Any word of advice for the girls?" The CEO encouraged. Kangwan thought over anything he could think of. His debut seemed like a long time ago now. "Um... I guess just don't be scared to be yourself. And if you mess up at any point, don't make it obvious. But also remember no one is expecting you to be perfect." He rambled, hoping it helped. "Very nicely put." The CEO praised. "Although your practice time was short, I have faith you girls will not let me down. Don't be stressed or nervous, just have fun. After today, you will be a debuted group, and next week we'll be releasing your first music video. It's exciting, right? You'll all do great, I know it! Hwaiting!" He said, giving them a fist pump at the end before dismissing himself and leaving the room. Seojin was nervous. It wasn't that long since she'd graduated high school, and now she was debuting. She knew that her family was watching the stream, and that there were lots of fans, and potential fans, and the media tuning in. She'd glanced at the media monitor a few times, seeing the numbers rise each time she looked, but after a bit, she'd decided that it was making her more nervous, not less. She'd gone around to the other girls and asked them how they were doing, checking to make sure that they were all stretching and warming up their voices.
There wasn't long to go when the CEO came in to check on them. He was all smiles, clearly pleased with the amount of buzz they were getting, and he told them to do their best, but also try to have fun. She smiled as Kangwan rambled and then bowed to him saying, "Thank you for being here to support us along with Joshua-sunbae, Kangwan-sunbae."
She knew that Joshua was off checking things on the stage and with the crew. She'd seen him when she'd gone out to take a peak earlier, but she figured that he'd probably check in with them right before they went live. It was reassuring to have Kangwan check in on them in a way. He was a far more regular presence in their day to day lives than the CEO was since they ran into him in the training rooms regularly.
The CEO headed out, and Seojin turned to the other girls. She said, "Remember, the Yuseong-sunbae will be there to help guide us through the showcase, and they have cue cards, but we've run through the basics of what we'll do. We start by going out and bowing and giving our introduction, or well, I have the big part of the introduction, but we'll try to get the bow in sync. And then we each do our personal introductions, Eon-unnie, don't forget to use your stage name. Then we'll have the picture time, first in group, and then one at a time. Then we'll do our performance and they'll drop the MV. And then we'll all get to sit down and Kangwan-sunbae and Joshua-sunbae will ask us questions, some of them the prepared interview questions, and some of them submitted by fans on the chat for the media stream."
It felt weird saying that there would be fans asking them questions, though she knew that the covers and practices that they'd been posting had gotten good views. There were fans, it wouldn't just be their families watching. She glanced around and said, "Anything anyone needs last minute? We've got enough time if anyone wants to run to the restroom before we get our microphones on."
She muttered to herself under her breath, practicing their introduction, "Hello, we are Jebi Byulbit eso Nalda, J.B.N., please help us fly in the starlight!"
It still didn't feel entirely natural in her mouth, but she was getting there. She looked around at the others, trying to determine how everyone was doing.
[[OOC: Suggested order in the thread so that Redeim and I aren't just replying to ourselves: Kangwan > Seojin > Shieon > Hayun > Anya > Elena > Joshua (normally, I would want to combine my replies into one comment for my characters, but I feel like Seojin, Hayun, and Josh are playing different enough roles in this thread that that would be hard/weird for me).
Notes: Sunbae is "senior" or (generally older) person who has been in the industry/doing something longer with more experience. It's the opposite of Hoobae.
Group name, Jebi Byulbit eso Nalda (J.B.N.) means Fly in the Starlight of Swallows, so the full introduction that Seojin is practicing is a play on words off that.

"Right!" Shieon said with a nod as the CEO directed a comment at her. She had been trying to use it more frequently lately to get used to it, but it was hard. She hadn't even changed her name when she transitioned! Now suddenly she had a stage name because she thought it'd be cool, and it was! She loved her stage name, but it was still quite an adjustment. She felt simultaneously excited and nervous, and figured it was probably a good idea to take a bathroom break before they were fitted for their microphones, and so she dismissed herself. Once she returned, she was ushered to get her microphone fitted, so she felt like she made perfect timing. She noticed Seojin was practicing the introduction, and gave her a hopefully reassuring smile, "Seojin- sshi, I think you'll do great. You've proven to be a good leader." ((OOC: "-sshi" is an honorific title that you add to a person's name while addressing them to show a sense of respect.)) [ An Hayun is next] |

Hayun was fidgety as she waited through the CEOs speech. She was glad that she wasn't going to be one of the ones doing the most talking. She'd just be able to follow Seojin-unnie's lead and answer the questions that she got asked. They'd practiced the types of questions in the past few weeks, though there was always the chance of the fans throwing them something unexpected in the comments. Even so, she trusted that Joshua-sunbae and Kangwan-sunbae would choose questions that wouldn't make them embarrass themselves, at least not too much.
Once both of them were fully equipped with their microphones, though fortunately not switched on quite yet, she threw her arms around Shieon and said, mostly quietly enough for the others not to hear, but in a dramatic whisper, "Eon-unnie, I'm so nervous!"
She grinned though and then added, "Also excited!"
She looked around at the others, wondering how ready all of them felt deep down. Hayun felt like she knew their dance fine, especially since she didn't have any of the truly hard bits, but she was still nervous about whether or not she was actually good enough to be a real main vocal. The trainers said that she'd been doing really well, but she wasn't sure that she'd entirely believe them until she had external proof.
Their manager called out to them, "You've got five minutes until mic check, and then we're on in ten."
Hayun stopped squeezing, Shieon and said, "We've got this!"
She let the stylist come over and adjust her costume and hair one last time, and she sighed a little bit as she had to stand with her feet further apart than any of the other girls so that the stylist could reach her hair.

Anya had hardly eaten all day from nerves, and now she was glad, as nausea seemed to be bubbling up. She looked at herself in the mirror after her hair and makeup was done, and she was fitted for a mic. They hadn't done anything sexy with her, which she was thankful for, and her outfit was comfortable while still being in theme with the others. She was glad the company was being respectful towards her age, as that was one of the things her family had been worried about. She joined the other girls and gave them a smile as she looked up at them, hoping her face didn't betray her and show just how nervous she was. "It's going to be so fun!" Elena was jumping up and down, pretending she had a jump rope. She was a ball of energy and excitement while listening to the CEO. "Seojin- unnie, I'm so nervous," she said, squeezing the other girl's hand. She didn't get to say much else before the staff were getting her mic set up. She took a few breaths to try and calm herself. She'd never really known herself to be this nervous. She'd spent the past month training as hard as she could to fit in and mesh with the rest of the group and she certainly didn't feel left out, her personality didn't allow for that. She did feel like she was new though. Like maybe the fans didn't really know or care for her, because she came in so late. She wanted to ease her nerves by holding onto Seojin or Hayun but figured that would only make them more nervous, so she wrapped her arms around herself instead and imaged her mother's voice and arms around her. It calmed her instantly. She opened her eyes, full of newfound positive energy, "we've got this! We're gonna show everyone who we are and they're gonna love us!" [ Joshua Kim Jaeseo is next] |

Josh was styled relatively neutrally so that he wouldn't draw attention away from the girls, and he had been reviewing their cues on the tablet that he would be using as the main host. He'd hosted things before, that wasn't unfamiliar, but he was a little nervous in a way that he hadn't been about a stage that he was hosting for in quite a while. This was his new hoobae group, and a good debut showcase would help them do well. He was reassured that he saw the numbers going up in the waiting room that he was monitoring on the tablet. Maybe a good chunk of those people were there for him and Kangwan, but a large audience would mean better initial exposure.
He glanced over the fan questions that were starting to pile up as well. Most of them were pretty harmless, and he marked a couple of them that he liked. He knew that the managers and potentially the CEO would also mark some for him and Kangwan to use. He hoped that there weren't any chosen that were too prying.
He didn't know the girls as well as Taehoon or Kangwan did, but he felt a good deal of fondness for them from how fond Taehoon was of them. He nodded when one of the crew told him they'd be live in five minutes and took up his spot, looking around for Kangwan so that they could get started. He quickly read over his lines again, ready to help introduce the girls.

Kangwan meandered over to Josh as he let the girls get ready and hype themselves up as a group. "You okay, hyung?" He asked quietly. He noticed Josh was looking over the questions, and perked up, "I was also looking through the questions. We're getting a lot, isn't that great?" He asked excitedly. He felt like he was trying to hide his own nerves by rambling what was basically nonsense. Seojin led the group of them onto the stage as they prepared for the cameras to start rolling. She waited at the edge, out of screen as Josh-sunbae started his introduction, he gave a short speech that reminded viewers that there'd been the training camp last summer, and that the trainees had been working hard since then. She was waiting for her cue though. Finally, Josh said, "Dreams Ent is proud to present our second ever group, Jebi Byulbit eso Nalda, J.B.N. Please welcome the girls to the stage!"
Seojin led the way across the stage, managing to keep her professional smile on her face despite the nerves and the urge to giggle at the recorded applause sound that the CEO had decided that they would play during the girls' entrance. Once she got in place next to Josh-sunbae, she glanced back at the others and when everyone was ready, or ready enough, she said softly, "1, 2, 3," to give the others timing for the bow, and said, "Hello, we are Jebi Byulbit eso Nalda, J.B.N., please help us fly in the starlight! I'm the leader and main dancer Woo Seojin. We are looking forward to getting to know you and performing for you."
She flashed a smile as she came back up from her bow, and glanced down the line at the rest of her members. They'd rehearsed this, but the managers had warned them that these sorts of things always ended up going off script at some point and you had to improvise a little bit. She hoped that they at least cleared introductions successfully before that happened.

Shieon definitely couldn't deny the butterflies in her stomach as they walked onto the stage. It was weird and a bit disappointing to not have a live audience, and she felt like the recorded applause was a little silly, but that obscurity almost helped to calm her nerves. She did the group bow and then waited for Seojin to finish her introduction. "Hello, I am the rapper, Eon. I look forward to greeting our fans!" She gave a cute wink and peace sign to the camera before looking to the next member. [ An Hayun is next] |

Hayun had been nervous before they went up on stage, but she was surprised that it dissolved as she walked out under the bright lights, following Seojin-unnie and Shieon-unnie. She smiled a little, bouncing up onto her toes a little bit as the other two introduced themselves. Once Shieon-unnie was done, it was her turn. A bigger smile bloomed on her face, and she continued, "Hello! I'm main vocalist Hayun, and we're so excited to be here performing for you tonight!"
She held up finger hearts, almost wanting to laugh at the cheesiness of it, but knowing that it was something that fans did tend to like, and she felt almost like she was floating. She'd missed performing, and even if there was no audience, being up on the stage and the rush of being under the spotlights was making her happy.
She glanced over at Shieon-unnie and gave her a little excited smiled before glancing down the line to Anya.

Anya realized it was her turn to do introductions, and for just a second she forgot the introduction she had so carefully rehearsed over and over until she could recite it in her sleep. "Hello! Elena was so nervous as she followed the rest of the group out on stage. She hadn't realized until now that she was literally as far away from Seojin as she could get. It turned her nerves up to another level. She bowed with the group and waited for everyone else to finish their introductions before saying her own, "Hello! I'm Elena, the happy, hyper virus of the group! I look forward to getting to know all of you, please take care of us." She gave a little jump and made a heart over her head. Josh smiled at the girls' introductions. They were clearly still not quite used to the stage and cameras, but he remembered being at that point. He knew that they'd get comfortable soon enough. The viewer numbers were going up rapidly, and there were more questions coming in, so that was promising.
He put on his hosting voice and said, "And now, the moment that all of you on the stream have been waiting for! In just a short while, we'll be dropping the music video for JBN's very first song, but first, you're going to get the chance to watch their very first live stage!"
He glanced down the line at the members and said, "JBN have been working very hard, and I can't wait to see what they have in store for us tonight!"

Kangwan introduced, then moved off the stage. Once Josh had joined him and he was sure their mics were off, he looked at the screen holding their cues and the list of filtered questions. "There are so many questions to choose from!" He whispered to Josh excitedly, glancing at J.B.N. occasionally as the song began to monitor them. "It's great the fans are so curious about them."
