Kangwan gave Josh a hopefully convincing smile, "My dad says congratulations to our first win." He said softly. So his dad hadn't specifically said to the whole group, but it was still a congrats nonetheless. He looked to Taehoon and thought about giving his hyung a hug, but then decided against it, instead patting him comfortingly on the back.
He was excited when their manager came in and told them they had permission to celebrate, but he deflated a bit as Josh spoke. "Manager-nim, perhaps we can rain check on the celebratory dinner tonight, and have it maybe, tomorrow night, or something?" He suggested, not remembering if they had any schedules the next night.

Josh sighed and shook his head, telling Kangwan and the manager softly, "We've got schedules every evening the rest of this week. The rest of you should go have a celebratory dinner and just bring us back something. We'll be OK back at the dorms."
Taehoon was clearly trying to be as quiet as he could in his tears, but from the way his arms tightened around Josh, and there was a tiny nod, Josh was pretty sure that he was right that Taehoon wasn't up to going anywhere other than home that evening. He hoped that they didn't have to walk by too many fans going to the car.
Josh glanced at Kangwan, trying to judge if the maknae was up to going out to celebrate. He hoped that Kangwan would be able to fully enjoy the feeling of their first win. Josh was more subdued than he would have been otherwise because he was holding Taehoon, but he did feel so much joy over the feeling of their win. He told Kangwan, "I'm glad that your dad congratulated you."

Kangwan bit his lower lip and frowned slightly at Josh and Taehoon. "We'll be sure to bring you guys back something!" He said, trying to sound chipper, but his voice was still a bit muddled from crying. His heart was a bit heavy while also feeling light, which just kind of made him feel weird, but overall he was happy. He followed Shihyun and Qiwang out, but looked back at Josh and Taehoon a couple times as they left.

Josh was relieved when the others left. He settled himself and Taehoon on the couch in the main room, waving to Kangwan in what he hoped was a reassuring way as the others left. He heard the manager say, "The CEO and VP and the rest of the managers are going to meet us at the restaurant."
He smiled a little bit at that, glad for Kangwan's sake that Thomas would be meeting them at the restaurant and Kangwan would have his boyfriend there for the celebration. Kangwan also seemed to need some level of reassurance, and Josh wasn't available for that right then.
He carded his fingers gently through Taehoon's hair, and he was unsurprised that Taehoon appeared to have cried himself to sleep a few tears still leaking from his eyes. He seemed more peaceful now though, and Josh hoped that when Taehoon woke back up, he'd feel more able to talk.
It was probably about an hour later that Taehoon stirred. Josh wasn't expecting the others back any time soon. He'd been glancing through social media on his phone, realizing that a lot of the reaction to their first win was people talking about Taehoon crying, but now that Taehoon was waking up, he set his phone aside.
He wasn't particularly surprised that the first thing that Taehoon said was, "I'm sorry."
He'd in fact kind of been expecting it. He stroked his hand down Taehoon's back and said, “You don’t need to be. You know, I’ve never seen you cry before. It seemed like that was years worth of crying all at once.”
Taehoon laughed a slightly sniffly laugh and said, “Yeah, it kind of was. I don’t really cry much, I never have. I guess there was a lot riding on that win for me. The song that was the most ours that any song has ever been too.”
Josh-hyung nodded and replied, “That’s sort of like when I cried after debut, and you came and found me. I’m glad to be able to finally pay that back a little.”
Taehoon shook his head and said, “It’s not something you have to pay back. It’s a thing that I did because I care about you.”
Josh could feel the blush rising in his cheeks, and Taehoon stilled, looking at him. He replied, “I’m glad to be able to show it in return then, the caring.”
Josh was a little bit surprised that Taehoon leaned in closer, murmuring against his neck, "Thanks."
A little shiver went through him at that, but Taehoon didn't seem to notice, or at least didn't say anything about it. Instead, Taehoon looked around and said, voice still fuzzy from sleep, "Where's everyone else?"
Josh wasn't that surprised that Taehoon hadn't been paying enough attention, possibly already half asleep when it was discussed, to know that the others had gone out to celebrate. Josh told him, “They went out to celebrate with the managers. They’re bringing us food back. I stayed with you. And don’t scold yourself about that. I’m happier having stayed with you.”
Taehoon stared at him for a long while then, clearly considering something, searching for something in Josh's face. Josh was pretty sure that he was blushing again, that there was something important happening in that moment. He waited to see what Taehoon would do or say. Taehoon fished out his phone and said, “I’ve been thinking about lyrics for the duet idea that the CEO had. I wanted to show you something that I came up with, but I’ve been a little nervous about it.”
Taehoon looked nervous as he handed the phone to Josh, and Josh was curious. As Josh took the phone, Taehoon curled himself closer against Josh's side, decidedly not looking at Josh's face, tension clear in his body where he was leaning pressed against Josh. Josh read the lyrics quietly in his head:
Josh didn't entirely know what to think at first, reading the lyrics over a few times. There was a warm, scared feeling in his chest, full of butterflies and hope. He wanted to be reading this right, to be feeling the same things, and he could identify all those moments in the lyrics, all the things that Taehoon was talking about, but what if he was wrong. He trusted Taehoon though, more than just about anyone else in the world. He said tentatively, "Is this about me, about us?"
Josh felt Taehoon nod against his neck, and he instinctively hugged the other main closer, wondering when or how this had built up. Still uncertain, Josh said, "I didn't realize..."
He didn't quite know where to go with the thought, but it boiled down to that Taehoon felt that way about him, that the other man might be interested. He'd kind of assumed that something was building bit by bit between Taehoon on Shihyun, but the two of them had been more strained, more distant, so maybe something just hadn't been working between them.
Taehoon spoke, breaking him from his own thoughts, “I didn’t really either. Not at first. It was so comfortable to be around you that it didn’t even occur to me that I might actually have ended up with a crush on you somewhere in all that time. It just blends in to the friendship.”
Josh realized then that they were in the same place with whatever this was, something soft and comfortable and caring between them, and that he'd been so scared about it, but maybe he hadn't needed to be. He asked softly, "Would you look at me?"
Taehoon didn't sit back away from him to look him in the eye, instead shifting around until he had his head in Josh's lap and was looking up at him. Josh brushed his hand along Taehoon's cheek, still tentative, still hopeful, and just a little bit lost. He said, “It took me a while to realize after I came out to you that I’ve had a crush on you for most of this time. Like you said, it was just so comfortable. And there was whatever was going on with you and Shihyun.”
Josh watched fascinated, as Taehoon's eyebrows scrunched together and the other man sighed. Taehoon said, “I gave him his chance, and at this point, I think that whatever was going to happen there, I’m happier with this outcome. I know that we’ll actually talk to each other, and that’s important.”
Josh couldn't quite express the enormity of what he was feeling right then, tied up in all the feelings of the day, of winning of Taehoon's reaction, of everything. Instead, he said, “I love the lyrics, a lot. I want to use them, and I’m a little bit afraid of showing them to the CEO.”
Taehoon closed his eyes and said, “Me too, but he said authentic. I don’t know how much more authentic I could get on that one. Now I’m a little nervous it’s too authentic.”
Josh figured that they could figure it out. With that confirmation settled, he said hesitantly, "Can I kiss you?"
Taehoon nodded, reaching up to tangled their fingers together and tug Josh lightly towards him. It was soft and strange and new, and Josh was pretty sure that his heart was about to try to hammer its way through the walls of his chest. As they pulled away, Josh felt shy but hopeful, glad that their fingers were still twined together. He said softly, "That was the first time I've actually kissed someone. I hope, I'd like to do it again?"
Taehoon sat up on the couch then, turning so that he could face Josh and lean their foreheads together. His voice was calm and soft and just everything wonderful that Josh associated with Taehoon as he replied, “I like the sound of that. Thank you for trusting me, and I want to see where this goes. Slow and steady, like the way we always do things.”
Josh leaned into the touch when Taehoon put a hand against his cheek. He was scared, definitely, but also reassured. He trusted Taehoon, trusted that even if this faded back into just friendship that it wouldn't be horrible. Trusted that Taehoon would stay his friend first and they'd figure whatever this turned into out.
Taehoon watched him, and finally, he leaned in to brush another quick kiss against Josh's lips and said, “I’m not ready to share this with anyone but you yet. We’ll have to tell the others eventually, but little by little and not tonight.”
Josh was relieved that Taehoon knew what one of his more immediate worries would be without him having to say anything. He smiled at Taehoon, still leaning into the touch, and said, “Thank you. I’ve not even come out to all of them yet. I like that, little bit little, together.”
They dozed off together on the couch after that, still cuddled together, and it was while later that Josh was roused by the sound of the rowdy return of the others outside the door. Taehoon was also blinking awake when he glanced down at his best friend, maybe boyfriend now, and he hugged Taehoon a little bit more closely before they sat up, ready to see what the others had brought back. Taehoon's stomach growled just then and both of them were giggling when the others came in to the apartment.
[[OOC: That was long! We can do a post or two to wrap this up, or we can leave it here, but I wanted to get this post in.]]
