Anya tensed as they were called to line up, but Taijia's parting words helped to calm her a bit. She glanced over at Remi and Yunjin, Remi watching her. He gave her a subtle thumbs up, and she smiled to her brother before standing in line properly. She felt dwarfed by the people in front of her, even though she was just slightly taller than average for her age. She could only imagine how Taijia must have felt. She locked eyes with Taijia, smiling to him and mouthing back, "You too." For all that he was excited, she just knew Taijia had to be nervous as well. Waiting for her turn would just be torture though.

They were brought into the room of the audition. A few adults who Tai didn't recognize were sitting behind a table on a platform across from where they entered. There was also a young woman who was standing behind them who Tai suspected was a translator. To one side of the table was a video camera, clearly set up to record the auditions to be looked over later.
They were instructed to place any instruments to one side of the room, to be retrieved when it was their turn, and Tai was glad that he wasn't the only person putting something down, though he was the only person with both a guitar and a keyboard, or two instruments at all for that matter. There was a keyboard off to the side when they came in, but Tai was glad that he had brought his own because the stand on the one that was there was too high for him, and it was a stand that he wasn't familiar with, so he couldn't adjust it quickly, and he didn't want to assume that they would be able to.
Then, they were arranged by number standing in front of the audition judges. They introduced themselves in Korean, and the translator translated into English. Tai wondered how many of the people auditioning needed the English translations. He was sure that they were helping Anya, but also that she would have been OK. Introductions were simple, and he'd gone over a lot of music and dance terms with her in Korean since he'd figured that they would be useful.
The people there to assess them were the vice president of the company, a vocal coach, and a dance instructor. Tai didn't recognize any of their names from things Kangwan had told him, except maybe the vice president's, but he didn't have any initial knowledge of them. He wasn't sure if that made him more or less nervous.
They went down the line to introduce themselves. The first few people gave their introductions in English, but one of the four before Tai gave his in Korean. When it got to Tai, he said in Korean, "Hello teachers, my name is Lin Taijia. I'm auditioning for both dance and vocal, and I also have guitar and keyboard with me. I am ten years old international age, twelve in Korean age."
There were a few nods, and the VP added a note to his file. He was glad as the introductions moved on, and then they were sent back to the chairs along the back row of the room. Tai felt more confident as the first few people went. He was better than what he was seeing so far.

Anya followed the rest of the line into the room, listening carefully to the Korean as the VP and trainers introduced themselves, and she was pleased she was able to follow along, the English translation letting her know she only missed "vice president" in her understanding. She glanced over to Taijia, trying to read his face to find out if he knew any of the people here, but from her angle she couldn't really tell without obviously looking at him. As the introductions went down the line, some in English and some in Korean, she had an internal debate about whether she should use English or Korean. As it got to be her turn, she impulsively decided to use Korean, "Hello teachers, my name is Anya Young. I am auditioning-" she said the word slower than the previous ones, but was thankful she remembered it, "- for a dance position. I am twelve, thirteen in Korean age."
As the auditions started, she felt her nerves gathering, but she was trying to keep them at bay. To her relief, some were not as good, and she could at least be confident she could impress the judges with her dancing. She just hoped that confidence lasted through 18 other people (she wasn't worried about Taijia, she knew he was good, and she was proud of him for that).

Tai's turn seemed to take forever to come up, and yet it also seemed all too soon. He was ready, he knew he was ready. He was definitely among the most skilled in the room from what he'd seen in the waiting room and of the auditions so far. But there was a definite level of feeling the fact that he was by far the youngest and smallest in the room.
He was called up, and he greeted the judges respectfully, and when he was instructed to do so, started his audition routine. He'd picked a song from Yuseong's discography that didn't have choreography and had choreographed for it. He was proud of what he'd come up with. Afterwards, he would be given the chance to show his skill with guitar and keyboard, and he planned to sing then as well, to show off a little bit more difficult vocal skills when he wasn't dancing.
His choreography started with simple, clear moves that showed how good his fundamentals well, but as the song picked up, he started incorporating floor work and faster, more complex footwork, and probably the thing that he was proudest of, leading into the high note, when there was a rising tension in the music, he did an aerial, and hit the high note right after it. He took, deep, steadying breaths as he waited for a response from the judges after his music ended. And he was a little bit surprised that the dance coach told him in Korean, "Lin Taijia, that was very impressive. Did you make the choreography yourself?"
Tai bowed a little bit, and said softly, "Thank you. Yes, I choreographed it myself."
All of the judges were nodding, and the Vice President said, "You wanted to show your instruments?"
Tai was given the go ahead to go and grab both his guitar and his keyboard. He started with guitar because he was more comfortable with it. He'd chosen one of Seventeen's vocal line's songs, since they worked well in general on the guitar, and it allowed him to show off his singing further. Then he moved on to keyboard, where he'd picked a Chinese song, since he wanted to make it clear that he actually meant it in his paperwork that he was trilingual.
After he was done, the instructors and the vice president said a few more words of praise, he returned to his seat. He felt satisfied as he watched the others, waiting a bit impatiently for Anya to come up. He had gotten the most positive reaction of anyone else in the room by far up to that point.

Anya bit back a smile as Taijia visibly wowed the judges. She couldn't have been more proud of him, and she tried to ride that euphoria until her turn, hoping it would abate some of the nerves, which only seemed to grow the longer she waited. When it was finally her turn, she felt like her heart would beat out of her chest, but there was adrenaline and excitement there too. She greeted the judges the same way Taijia had, and then began her audition when she was told to.
As the song came to an end, she watched the judges intensely as she held her pose for a few seconds and then gave them a bow, standing straight to listen to their critque. "That was rather impressive. Did you also choreograph that yourself?"
Anya hesitated a moment before replying, "Honestly, Taijia did the cheography for me. We're... we're friends." She said, her voice shaking at the end, pointing back in Taijia's general direction. She knew that would cause her to lose some credibility, but she also didn't want to lie about it. They discussed between themselves again before telling her she could sit back down. The neutrality on their faces made her more nervous than the wait for the audition. She looked to Taijia, her eyes wide, wondering if she had done the right thing by telling them that. A couple other people besides Taijia had been asked if they choreographed their audition and most of them replied with something along the lines of they got it off the internet, so having a friend help her should have been no different, right?

Tai was pleased with how Anya did. She'd gotten the dance down well, and he was proud of her. He couldn't entirely read the reaction of the judges, but it didn't seem negative at least. He tried his best to look serious and attentive when the judges looked at him after Anya said that he'd choreographed her routine, but he was relieved that they didn't pay attention to him all that long. He did see them shuffle back to another file in their stack though, and make a note, so he figured that something about it had gotten their attention.
At last, they were told to retrieve their instruments if they had them, line back up and go. They could return to the front check in at 11 am to see if they were in the 1 pm callback. They were told that even if they didn't get called for the callback, that didn't mean that they had been rejected, just that the judges had seen what they needed to. Tai hoped that he would get the callback anyhow though because he wanted more chances to potentially impress the judges, but more than that, he hoped that Anya got called. It would give her a chance to sing and dance separately, which would help show off her skills better.
Once they had been released back into the waiting room, and Tai checked the time, they had a while until the call back announcement, probably for the other audition groups to go through.
Yunjin came over to them and asked, "How did it go?"
Tai replied, "Pretty well, I think. There will be call back announcements at the front at 11 am, and then callbacks at 1 pm if we're called back."
Yunjin looked the rest of them over and said, "We can wait here, and the two of you can prepare how you see fit, or we can go get some lunch and do something else in the area until it's time to check the callback."
Tai looked over at Anya, perfectly happy to stay where they were and do a light routine and then some homework, but wanting to let Anya decide since she had been more nervous.
