Jiuk is rather short, at 5'3" (160 cm), weighing 135 lbs (61 kg) (His weight usually fluctuates between about 150 lbs to 160 lbs [68kg-72kg]). His skin is pretty fair, and while his hair color is a naturally a very dark brown, he tends to prefer it dyed from a light brown to a blonde. His eyes are a chocolate brown, and almond shaped. He isn't very built, but his lithe form is better than before, as he's lost over 165 lbs (75 kgs) since his last year of high school. He has a few scars from his attack he'd rather not talk about along his neck and torso. His ears are pierced twice. He has no tattoos, mostly because he's afraid of needles (he swears the piercings were miracles). He has a cute smile, too, that makes him seem a bit more coy and playful than he usually is.
His voice is light and airy, higher than he'd like at the tenor range, occasionally even mezzo-soprano. When he tries to deepen his voice, his friends just playfully tease him, so he's grown to accept his "girly" voice, especially now that he is surrounded by people that mean no harm in their teasing.
He loves modern poetry, and has for as long as he can remember. He was entranced the first time he saw a slam poetry performance. His likes include poetry, long walks on the beach, Korean culture, Korean music, coffee, long drives, long shirts (the kind that go past his knees and over his hands). Around 2019, he began writing lyrics for Hwangjung's songs, and though at first he was nervous about the idea, he's found he quite likes it. He also loves that it gives him an opportunity to practice his Korean.
He really hates being called short, taking off his shirt, even for swimming, having to wake up without coffee, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and his stutter, though the latter two have become a lot more tolerable now that he has someone who's patient with him.
His strengths include being outspoken, being a great slam poet, being an innovative and creative thinker - can look at situations in a different way from others, and he's willing to be spontaneous.
His weaknesses include freezing up at signs of violence, being weak strength-wise, is lazy, and when it gets out of control (very rare these days), his stutter.
His fears are bullies (specifically the ones that attacked him), Christians, the dark, needles, being in pain, losing close friends or "family," and spiders.
His habits are biting his lip or chewing on his lip, biting his nails, having inconsistent diet practices (i.e.: "I'm on a diet" and then eats entire cake), playing on his phone, and listening to music.

BEST FRIEND
Name: Samnang Yun
Birth Year: 1996
Occupation: Starbucks Manager
Feelings Toward: Best friends since high school, at this point Samnang is more like a little brother than a friend. Jiuk is forever appreciative of Sam for introducing him to the GSA.
Jiuk was born to a Caucasian father and Korean mother. He went through his childhood pretty normally, going to a Christian school just outside the Cedar Beach City limit. Growing up, he continuously had parent-teacher conferences as well as personal prayer sessions as he kept wanting to "play with girls and their toys, rather than boys and their toys," as the teacher put it.
By middle school, Jiuk (or "Z," as he went by now, having given up with correcting people) realized he was gay. But he knew with his parents the way they were and being in Christian schooling, he'd have to stay in the closet. This didn't stop him in eighth grade, however, when he happened across another boy hiding a gay porn magazine just a second too late. Jiuk promised not to tell, revealing he was also gay. They formed an unlikely friendship, originally not having much in common besides they both went to Christian school and they both were gay. The boy was an athlete, tall, skinny, blond-haired boy who ran on the track-and-field team. Jiuk was short, of slightly above average weight, shy, and an artist, focusing on writing. The boy's name was Xavier Confortola, and they quickly learned Xavier's parents were much more understanding of gays than anyone at their school, or what Jiuk feared his parents would be like. They began a relationship their freshman year, keeping it hidden from the prying eyes of the campus.
*** Their love was sweet and pure while they could be out at Xavier's house, as his parents found the two "so adorable." However, it was not to last. In between their sophomore and junior year, some of their classmates found the two together, kissing. They ganged up on the two, beating them viciously, and one boy even went as far as rape after Jiuk suggested that people hate what they see in themselves. After forcing him to watch his boyfriend be raped, Xavier was hit with a baseball bat, and never woke up again.
Jiuk woke up in the hospital, bruised, sore, and emotionally raw. His parents were furious instead of understanding or caring, however, and told him it was what he deserved for "choosing to be gay." They later came back with papers to disown him. Xavier's parents, grieving for their own son and the intolerance he faced, wouldn't take it from Jiuk's parents. They chewed Jiuk's parent's out before telling the boy he'd have a place to stay with them for as long as he needed to, whether it was one day or the rest of his life.
After Jiuk was released from the hospital, he did decide to move in with Xavier's family, having one last bit of contact with his biological parents to grab the majority of his stuff. He was facing nightmares, depression, suicidal tendencies, a stutter, and insomnia, but Alexa and Dave Confortola were nothing but patient with him, also helping him get in to see a counselor. By the time Jiuk returned to school in the fall, the physical wounds were gone, but his heart was still severely wounded. He had lost his only friend. One malicious grin from his attackers on the first day of the fall semester caused Jiuk to have a mental breakdown, and he was quickly pulled out of the Christian school and sent to a regular public school after he recovered. He had begun gaining weight soon after the accident, ballooning close to 350 lbs by the middle of his junior year. The therapist told him it was a way to build a shield, and that it was an unhealthy coping mechanism for him. Jiuk realized after a lot of contemplation that she was right, and began changing his eating habits to lose weight. He's still a bit chubby for his height, at 150 lbs, but he's definitely healthier than he had been.
Once he started at the public school, he initially spent his time as a loner, but then in his senior year, he met Samnang Yun, and was guided to something he hadn't ever seen before: a Gay-Straight Alliance club. He joined it after much hesitation, but doesn't regret any bit of it. He made close friends who accepted him for who he was, and his wounds began healing on their own, although still rather slowly. After a while, with good friends and plenty of speech therapy, he even seemed to lose his stutter, though when he gets upset it will still rear it's ugly head.
Jiuk graduated from college with an English degree in 2014. For a few years after graduation, Jiuk worked in a Google office in Kirkland. He'd work during the day while dreaming of becoming a famous poet. In 2015, he met Hwangjung, and they began dating a little while later. Jiuk slowly began to understand what it truly meant to "move on." He began feeling awkward about still living with Xavier's family while dating someone new, and was ready, but also relieved, when Hwangjung suggested he move in.
Jiuk's immediate social circle grew a bit, and as he began socializing with Theo, he learned that Theo's job was hiring. Jiuk leaped at the opportunity - he loved the idea of working in an LGBTQ+ center, and he soon joined Theo at his job, now working as a secretary. Jiuk was thrilled to get to quit his mindless job and work at a place that held more meaning to him, the bonus being on slow nights, Jiuk has time to write. Around 2018, he had started a blog to house his writing and show it to the public.
After a random inquiry from his boyfriend as to whether or not he was willing to write lyrics for one of his songs, Jiuk slowly shifted his focus from poetry to lyrics. The main difference, he's found, has been writing in Korean rather than English, but otherwise finds the two writing mediums quite similar. As he got more busy with writing lyrics (and got to travel with Hwangjung to Korea), he's shifted his focus from slam poetry performances to writing for his blog, and writing lyrics.
