Hwangjung and Jiuk had both been lazing around downstairs on a weekend day. Hwangjung was toying with going and working on the song he was working on right now, but he was frustrated with making filler lyrics scan, and he didn't feel like it. He looked over at Jiuk, since the two of them had been quiet together for a while, though they'd both been messing around on their phones at least for a while.
He chewed on his lip, toying with the thought of a question that he'd been mulling over, and then said, voice slow and cautious, "Jiuk? What would you think of getting a house the two of us at some point? I like living with you here, and this isn't an immediate decision question, but like, I've been thinking about it, and I want to know if you'd be interested too eventually?"

Jiuk looked up from his phone as Hwangjung suddenly spoke. Tumblr was almost instantly forgotten as his hands seemed to freeze. He'd be lying if he said he'd never thought about it. He had just never said anything because he didn't want to potentially cause a rift between Hwangjung and Sungyong and Yunjin by asking them to move out, especially since the other two were wonderful people, even if he didn't always have topics of conversation for them. And Taijia was immensely adorable and clearly loved Hwangjung, so he just never bothered bringing it up. So now that his boyfriend was the one to bring it up, he was a bit surprised.
"Um... w-well... I'd be uh... I'd by lying if I said I never thought about it." He finally admitted, not really sure why he was so nervous about that. It felt like a giant step in their relationship, which in itself was making him nervous. "I wouldn't mind having a house to ourselves, either." He added, giving Hwangjung a soft smile. Maybe he could get himself more comfortable, more ready, and maybe living alone together would allow him to let them to take the other big step in their relationship. He could dream.

Hwangjung listened quietly as Jiuk talked. Nodding along to show that he was listening. He said, "I was never necessarily planning to live with Yunjin and Sungyong forever. Like I want to stay close, in a dream world, I would live next door, but when we went from just leasing this place, to leas to buy, it was always a discussion of whether it would be just Yunjin's name on the place or Yunjin's and Sungyong's. They decided on just Yunjin's eventually, I think for tax reasons, or something."
He realized he was rambling and shook himself a little. He tried again, saying, basically, "In my imagined future, I would eventually find someone who I wanted to move out with once Tai was old enough that he didn't need constant supervision and things were more steady. And like, this is a good arrangement for now. It saves all of us money, and Yunjin's going to own the house by the end of the year."
He paused for a moment again, and then added, "Also, Yunjin's been dating someone seriously, and I mean, if he's getting serious enough that he might want to ask his boyfriend to move in, and since his boyfriend is the guardian to two younger brothers, you've met one of the younger brothers actually, Thomas, babysits for Tai sometimes, I want to give Yunjin that opportunity."
He paused again, and glanced over at Jiuk, before asking, "Does that make sense love?"

Jiuk nodded slowly, just trying to process all the potential changes that could be coming up. "Quite honestly, if we can't move in nearby - which, I'd be fine with, I'm not saying I'm not - I'd like to find a place where I can look for a closer job. I'm used to my job, and it's nice, but the pay has really not become worth the commute. I'd probably do that anyway once we moved but... having an excuse is always nice." He said, a small chuckle escaping to punctuate his sentence.
"Oh, Thomas is a good kid." He muttered, as if just thinking out loud. He nodded, "Yeah, it makes sense." He said finally, glancing back down at his phone, only turning it off and putting his hands in his lap. He gave Hwangjung a smile, though his nervousness peeked through it, "When were you planning on us going through with this plan?"

Hwangjung replied to the easiest part of the chain of questions first, "Probably early next year would be good. Yunjin will own the house completely then. If things go the way that they look to be with him and his boyfriend, he'd be getting close to actually asking Theo about moving in, so us moving out could make that work. I mean, if we saw the perfect thing before then, I wouldn't say don't try for it, but house hunting is hard, and well, I suspect we should take a while just staring at it on the internet first."
Hwangjung sighed and said, "I'd really want to be pretty close. Like walking distance close. I'm still one of the important grown ups in Tai's life, and Yunjin and Sungyong and I, well, the three of us have been through a lot together, and we're kind of each other's fall backs for everything. I want my own place, definitely, with you, but not too far away. I want enough space to set up a really good studio, because I've sold 10 songs this year, and that's starting to look actually sustainable. I could sell more if I could just figure out lyrics, but well, that's not ever been my strong suit."
He paused, and looked at Jiuk intently for a moment, and then asked, "Do you think, I mean, I know that you do a lot of the slam poetry, but would you ever, maybe, you know, consider trying to work with me on something, for like the lyrics, I just put in filler things that scan right, nonsense words basically, and it's frustrating, and well, it might be something that you would actually enjoy?"
He waited, slightly tense, hoping that Jiuk would actually be interested.

Jiuk nodded slightly, mouth open a bit, "Ah... that's makes sense." He said simply. "Because Yunjin's boyfriend has another brother besides Thomas, right? So the space down here would probably be pretty useful." He mused aloud. He moved so he was sitting up a bit more. "Similar to what you were saying, I think maybe if we spend the time now tossing around some houses we like, it will help give us an idea of what to look for for each other when we're doing serious house hunting." He was a bit nervous about the idea of finding a house. That was a really permanent thing. A decision he'd have to live with potentially for the rest of his life. He would get overwhelmed at the idea of picking a tattoo for himself (not that he really wanted any, anyways), but a house was big. Growing up, he'd always dreamed of certain things that were "must haves," and while the more wilder ideas faded away, there were still certain ones that were still on his must-have list, (A library was one of them, but the older he got, the more he could compromise to it being a library and an office). He also wanted a wall with lyrics from poems.
He was a bit shocked out of his thoughts at Hwangjung's question. He pointed to himself, eyes wide, "You... You want me to write lyrics?" He had never thought about doing lyrics before. He just kind of accepted he was talented at slam poetry but Samnang was the musically-talented one. He thought it over only for only a minute before nodding hesitantly, "It's... it's something I'd be willing to t-try..." At the very least, he'd be able to spend more time with Hwangjung, and assuming the lyrics had to be in Korean, it would give him a highly sought-after chance to get truly fluent.

Hwangjung grinned and said, "So does that mean we can go to open houses together if we see something that sounds interesting? Because I will tell you now, I have a strange fondness for open houses. Also, I don't know how well I could judge houses from listings without having seen how some listings and houses compare. I mean, we can start with just looking at listings on the internet at first."
He decided that this was enough of the hard part of that discussion that he wouldn't bring up the subject of the logistics for the time being. Instead, he focused on the other part of the conversation. He smiled at Jiuk and patted his arm lightly, "I asked because I think that you'd be really good at it. You write amazing poems, and a lot of them are really emotional, and you already write for the spoken word. Plus, I like spending more time around you, so that would be a good part too, if we work well together, and we really took off, maybe companies would even pay to fly us out to Korea for stuff."

"Hmm... sure." Jiuk said, seeming to think over that suggestion before giving Hwangjung a smile and a nod. "I think I'll start looking at online listings to get an idea of pricing and what we can expect." He mused aloud. "And we can use the internet to bounce ideas of what we like back and forth between each other."
He felt himself blush at Hwangjung's compliments. "The lyrics would have to be in Korean, right? I just... don't know how well I'd do in Korean, and if I wrote it in English and then translated it, it wouldn't flow as well, right? Y-you'd... you'd help me there, right?"

Hwangjung grinned and came over to wrap and arm around Jiuk. He said, "I'd be happy to help with the Korean stuff that's hard, but I'm pretty sure that even in a language that you aren't as confident in, you'd be a better lyrics writer than me. And hey, if it works, we could be a team for this stuff, and you'd get invited with me for production things sometimes. That would be pretty cool."
He leaned over and kissed Jiuk's forehead lightly and said, "And plus, it will be a good way for you to work on your Korean with me."

Jiuk perked up. "I didn't think of it that way." He said. He leaned into Hwangjung's embrace, getting comfortable against his boyfriend. He bent his head back to look at Hwangjung, probably looking a bit silly, but not really caring. "When we go to Korea... Err... If? If I am in Korea at any point, you have to take me shopping and bring me to all the food." He demanded playfully. "I especially want to try legitimate kimbap, and deokbokki, and ooo! Especially budaejigae." He laughed lightly. "And of course, all the snacks we don't have in America, or isn't easy to get in Koreatown."

Hwangjung laughed and said playfully, "Don't worry, I would be going shopping and eating all the food either way. I don't get proper Korean food out here as often as I would like without actually going more into LA, and that's always a pain. And of course my dad's a really good cook, so I had good Korean food at home all the time growing up, and it gave me expectations."
He said, "You can say when. Even if we aren't invited to come for a work reason, I will definitely find a way to make sure that you get a chance to visit Korea soon enough. It wouldn't be so bad for tickets if we're only having to swing one pair between the two of us if I'm going for work and you aren't."

Jiuk's smile widened at that comment. He had always wanted to go to Korea. His parents either never had the time or money, and by middle school, Jiuk kind of gave up hoping this would be the year they'd go. Apparently he had family in Korea, but now he'd never know for sure, since he never knew their names or anything and his parents weren't acknowledging his existence and he was pretty fine with that.
"Ooo good point!" He finally said, getting more excited. "I theoretically have enough for a plane ticket now." He said with a coy grin. "Although when I checked, I managed to find a ticket for $600 so..." He said, punctuating his sentence with a shrug. He had tried saving up to go himself, but just like his parents, he either never had the time or the money. When he found that cheap flight, he was still adjusting to having school loans and car payments and friends and was living paycheck to paycheck.

Hwangjung smiled warmly at Jiuk, giving his boyfriend a little squeeze before replying, "We will obviously need to put a little planning into it, since I don't know what the next time I'm going for a business trip is just yet. Sometimes I just sell songs, and sometimes I do the production type visits."
He paused and then laughed a little bit, "It's going to be kind of funny awesome weird now though if I do another song for Kangwan's group. Last time I just sold one to them, but their music people talked about maybe having me do a more production type thing with the group at some point."
He glanced over at the time, noting that it was plenty of time until dinner, and asked, "Do you want to come listen to what I've got of the song that I'm working on right now? Then you'd have something to start with for lyrics thoughts if you're interested."

Jiuk smiled softly, a light chuckle escaping at the thought. He hadn't had much contact with Kangwan, but the pink haired boy who was (frustratingly) an inch taller than him was sweet and ambitious from what impression he did get. At least if Hwangjung did a song for the group and he came with, there'd be more than one familiar face while he was in Korea.
He turned and looked in the general direction of Hwangjung's computer. "Oh, yeah, sure." He was still nervous about the idea of writing lyrics for another language, but in time, he'd get to be fluent in Korean, and he'd grow more comfortable with it.
